Unicode to InPage Converter (the “extension”, “we”, “our”) is a browser extension that converts Urdu Unicode text into InPage format. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with your information. We have kept it short and plain, because the honest answer is simple: the extension is built to run locally and keep your text private.
Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information. The extension has no account system, no sign-up, and no login. It does not use analytics, tracking pixels, cookies, or advertising. The Urdu text you enter and the InPage text the extension produces are processed on your device, inside your browser, and are never sent to us or to any third-party server by the extension.
Clipboard access
The extension requests two clipboard permissions and uses them only at the moment you click a button:
Copy (clipboard write): when you click Copy, the converted InPage text is placed on your clipboard so you can paste it into InPage or another program.
Paste (clipboard read): when you click Paste, the extension reads the text currently on your clipboard so it can be converted.
Clipboard data is used only for the conversion you ask for, only when you click. It is not logged, saved, or transmitted anywhere.
Local settings
The extension saves a single setting in your browser’s local storage: whether you prefer the light or dark theme (stored as uic_dark). This stays on your device, is used only to remember your choice between sessions, and is never shared. You can remove it at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser’s storage for it.
Voice input (optional)
The extension includes an optional voice input button that lets you dictate Urdu instead of typing. This feature uses your browser’s built-in speech recognition (the Web Speech API):
When you use voice input, your browser may send the audio it records to its own speech recognition service, operated by your browser’s maker (for example, Google in Chrome, or the service used by Microsoft Edge), to convert your speech into text.
This processing is performed by your browser, not by this extension. We do not receive, access, listen to, or store your audio or voice recordings.
This activity is governed by your browser maker’s own privacy policy.
Voice input runs only when you click the microphone button, and your browser will ask for microphone permission first. If you would rather not use it, simply don’t click the microphone button every other feature, including the core conversion, works without it.
Data sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information with anyone. There is no data for us to share, because the extension does not collect any.
Third-party services
The extension does not bundle any analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party processing that can occur is your browser’s own speech recognition service, and only if you choose to use voice input (see above). The extension window includes a link to our website, www.unicodeinpage.com, which opens only if you click it.
Children’s privacy
The extension is a general-purpose publishing utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Security
Because the extension stores no personal data on any server and processes your text locally, there is very little data at risk. Your text stays in your browser unless you choose to copy or download it yourself.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and any significant changes will be reflected here.
