I'm hoping that the dev team runs some quality assurance on the reviews soon before this gets out of hand and harder to resolve.
But currently, the incorrect data is a critical flaw and I can't trust it until this is fixed. - 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: disappointedbutnotsurprised, bir yıl önceremoving this from my browser. even when things started to go downhill around a year ago, which I certainly noticed, I kept this extension purely to mark actual terfs and transphobes. as more and more trans and intersex people were marked red, I kept the extension, trusting my own judgment over shinigami eyes. at this point I see no point in keeping the extension when half the time those marked red are actual transgender people.
it seems people on tumblr specifically, as perfectly trans- and intersex-friendly blogs are marked red, have been noticing the problems with shinigami eyes and now that other people are abandoning this extension I think it would be best for me to follow suit.
I'm grateful that other people are finally noticing the discrepancies with this extension. shame on the developer for giving the same weak, vague copy-pasted responses to accurate complaints. queer love forever - 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: Firefox kullanıcısı 18732177, bir yıl önce
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: Cheesemongle, bir yıl önceI used it for a while but it seems like it's not very useful anymore. I noticed many accounts tagged as red were accounts that never mentioned transgender issues in their entire existance... Possibly mis-reported?
It doesn't seem like this add-on has very good moderation, but again this might just be a mistake. - 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: waoh, bir yıl önceWhile I feel like this service can be helpful in certain instances, lately people have been abusing to target queer friendly people they don't agree with (often intersex folks, who's voices need to be heard in every discussion of queer liberation). It is very disappointing to see a service I formerly believed to be helpful and queer-friendly show it's true colors like this. I hope that the moderators rectify this mistake, as this service has been very helpful for me and others in the past. It is just sad to see it destroying it's own reputation by throwing vulnerable members of the queer community under the bus.
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: puppy, 2 yıl öncegood extension for basic terf spotting but is often misused for targeting queer people who others don't like.
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: Firefox kullanıcısı 18708389, 2 yıl önceI can't in good consciousness rate this extension 1 star, because it genuinely has been useful to me in the past. However, I've been seeing more and more trans friendly accounts unmarked or even marked red simply for uplifting transmasc, nonbinary, and intersex voices. It would be one thing if this were simply a case of the 'phobes abusing the community mark feature i would be less concerned, but the developers have responded to similar reviews to mine to comfirm that this is the system working as intended, and that many of these false marks were manually placed by the moderation team. This is frankly unacceptable in any application that calls itself progressive, let alone something that has, in the past, been as useful to online safety as Shinigami Eyes.
I'm leaving a two star rating for these reasons. I will continue recommending this extension, but only after a conversation about these drawbacks and how they only further the goals of the very people who make products like this necessary to a safe online experience. It is shameful to see you walk down this path, and I can only hope that eventually the devs and moderators will see the error in their ways and begin working, once again, towards a better world. - 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: Vega, 2 yıl önceUsed to be incredibly useful to help keep myself safe, but now is actively promoting weird exclusionist queer discourse by marking random trans and intersex users anti-trans for opinions the devs seemingly just don't agree with (intersex exclusive labels, stuff about transandrophobia, stuff that doesn't make someone anti-trans in any way really). This no longer helps keep me safe and actively goes against what its original goal was. A depressing turn of events considering the state of the world.

The political biases of the creators with regards to who is part of the trans community, what is or is not transphobic, what language is or is not appropriate, etc. directly impact the TOS and intended purpose of this extension, so if your politics diverge at all (which they likely will, just because of how many stances there are to have), labels on accounts and pages may mislead you.
On top of this, users can and do falsely flag accounts as trans-friendly or transphobic (I've personally been marked friendly before for simply being part of a trans-positive group which is not what the label is meant to mean, but this feature can also easily be used maliciously), and high numbers of people using the extension results in false or misleading flags having a huge impact on the amount of engagement a user gets, which homogenises what LGBT+ talking points and perspectives get seen online.
Extensions such as this can be handy at times, but without attached explanation for why a user is marked the way they are, it acts less like an informative tool and more like a prosthetic gut instinct with someone else's biases baked into it instead of your own.
I'm personally removing this extension in response to a blog that should qualify for the trans-friendly label being irreversably marked as transphobic by the creators due to political disagreement, likely on the specifics of the relationship between the intersex and transgender communities. The blog owner does a lot of really important outreach and IRL community work, and has unique and important perspectives that a lot of people will no longer engage with because of the false label.
It was nice to have quick information to look to when something didn't quite sit right with me because I have a lot of trouble trusting my own instincts, but on further meditation I'm not OK with a tool like this deciding how I should feel for me.
If you do choose to install the extension, please consider its labels an invitation to inspect further and figure out why that label is there, instead of simply taking it as an objective marker of who is or is not safe. Nobody can judge what is or is not safe for you except yourself. - 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: EinsteinFrizz, 2 yıl önceThis started off as a great concept but has essentially become useless due to the attitudes of the dev(s?) reflecting an incredibly closed-minded view of what transness is. Do not trust this extension's markings in the slightest - it used to be a good indicator (taken with a grain of salt of course) but is now no better than throwing a dart blindfolded. If someone makes a fork that fixes these issues (perhaps something like ublock has where you can add other people's lists) I would love to use it as the concept of the community helping each other is very helpful.
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: doc, 2 yıl öncePretty neat, would be better if the people behind it weren't intersexist and transmisandrist. Two stars because it's marginally better than nothing right now, fix this and yourselves doofs.
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: dino, 2 yıl öncetransandrophobia and theres been a lot of false positives lately that cant be changed back to green for some reason
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: IOC, 2 yıl önceRecent infighting has made this extension far less reliable. Trans people mark other trans people red for petty reasons constantly. It's really frustrating to have to gamble on if a red name is gonna have literal hate speech when you double check or if they just got into a fight with the wrong person.
I still think it's worth using, but you can't take any highlights at face value. You have to verify for yourself (which means you have to expose yourself to transphobia a whole lot). Better than nothing, but I really wish it wasn't treated like it's infallible. It's not. - 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: redrum, 2 yıl önceUsed to be good but now people are using this extension for completely stupid reasons such as marking other trans people and intersex people as 'anti-trans' for the crime of- *checks notes* talking about their own experiences?
I won't stop using this extension as it can be useful- but I may take that back if stuff like this continues. - 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: Thefleshmaggotsadore, 2 yıl önceHonestly, while I use this add-on more to mark stuff myself, and it is useful for that; I cannot actively support the creator of it since she seems to be perfectly fine with transphobia directed at Trans men, mascs, and nonbinary people. And as well as fine with intersexism (sexism directed to intersex individuals). Several times this extension has marked people green who are spewing transphobic rhetoric of other trans people, but then mark red trans men and intersex people speaking to their own oppression and lived experiences. Genuinely, it is disheartening seeing a creator of what should be a trans friendly extension- be grossly transphobic and intersexist to the very people they claim to 'protect'.
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: corruptGigabytes(Hazel), 2 yıl önceExtremely hit-or-miss nowadays. Intersexist people are randomly marked green while actual trans-friendly and transgender people (like MYSELF) get marked red. This extension needs to be remade with more robust vetting policies.
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: digicat, 2 yıl önceThis used to really be useful, but in the past month or so seemingly random people have been marked as transphobic, while I see green names who have actively harassed trans women I'm close to, and who otherwise don't meet the current requirements for being marked green whatsoever. Not sure what is happening but I am no longer very trusting of the judgements being made.
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: tronbonne, 2 yıl önceExtension seems broken, source code isn't available, and results are wildly inconsistent. It's useful if you don't want to get to know people by talking to them, but the notion of crafting a master list of bigots based on anonymous reports is kind of iffy
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: sparechair, 3 yıl önceI can see flagged links but I can't flag them myself for some reason. Why??
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: Eagleshouse, 4 yıl öncethis app is amazing and potentially lifesaving - but please can it be fixed so it works on tumblr again!!
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: Firefox kullanıcısı 16295563, 5 yıl önceHelpful, but kind of useless at the same time when crypto fascist twitch streamers show up as green lol
- 5 üzerinden 2 puanyazan: phaya, 7 yıl öncedoesn't seem to work when right clicking on any page. clicking on options via the addon page brings me to the guidelines and accept button, but those do nothing for me
edit: seems to work now, but im still slightly displeased over the extension featuring contrapoints, who's takes on being trans come from an extremely privileged and cis viewpoint
