You can achieve the same result by going fullscreen on video, then going to home screen (forcing the video to be in a pop up frame), then turning the screen off, turning it back on (you now have a lock screen) and pressing the play button. I see a change in the behavior of the videos playing in background. After a while it stops for example if I lock my phone, or if I leave the app (and I think it correlates with an inactivity timer or a refresh after an inactivity timer), when I start another app it also stops and no longer restarts.
