Brinsley — Article to Flashcards geliştiren: Brinsley
The short version is that Brinsley collects nothing, because there is no server to collect it with. What follows is the long version, because "we value your privacy" is what everyone writes and this is meant to be checkable.
THE ADD-ON
It runs only when you click the icon. It declares no content script, so nothing happens on page load.
It reads only the tab in front of you, and only the passage you highlighted.
It makes no network request. There is no server to speak to, no account to hold, and no key to surrender. That is held by the extension's own content security policy, which permits no destination at all: a build that tried to reach one would be refused by the browser rather than trusted not to.
What you highlight is never stored. It is held while the panel is open, and written only to the .csv file you choose to save.
Two things are kept on your own machine so that you do not have to set them again: your settings, and your licence key if you have bought one. They are written to your browser's local storage at the extension's own origin, under brinsley.settings and brinsley.licence. They stay there. Nothing reads them but Brinsley, and Brinsley has nowhere to send them.
Brinsley holds two permissions — activeTab and scripting — and no host permissions at all.
No data is collected. Not anonymised, not aggregated, not "to improve the service". There is nowhere for it to go.
THE WEBSITE
brinsley.info is a single file. It sets no cookie, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from anywhere else.
It is served by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub's servers see the request your browser makes, including your IP address, and GitHub's own privacy statement governs what it does with that. Nothing on the page asks for it, and nothing here receives it.
INSTALLING
Brinsley is distributed by Mozilla's add-ons store. Mozilla counts installs and users, which is where the numbers on the listing come from, and that counting is Mozilla's and is governed by Mozilla's own privacy notice. What reaches Brinsley is Mozilla's statistics — how many copies are in use, on which versions, in which countries — and never who has one.
BUYING
Payment is handled by Polar, which is the merchant of record, and by its payment processor. Your card details go to them. They never reach Brinsley, and there is nothing here that could receive them.
What Brinsley receives from a purchase is the email address you bought with and the order it belongs to. The address is used to send you your licence key and to answer you about that order. It is used for nothing else, and there is no mailing list to be added to.
WHO
Brinsley is the name this is published under, and it answers for everything on this page. Write to enquiry@brinsley.info and it is read and answered there.
ASKING
If you write to enquiry@brinsley.info, your message and the address you sent it from sit in that mailbox, for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of what was asked. It is the only address Brinsley publishes.
WHAT THIS DESCRIBES
Brinsley 1. If a later version of Brinsley ever collects anything, this page says so before that version ships, and the promises published on brinsley.info stop saying what they say today.
