CIRA Canadian Shield helps block access to malicious websites that can steal your data, install harmful software or trick you into scams.

This extension provides visual cues to show whether a website is safe. A green icon means you can browse with confidence. A red icon means access is restricted and a block page is displayed.

Choose between two levels of protection:

• Protected: blocks malware, phishing, botnets and scams.
• Family: includes everything in Protected and blocks adult content.

PIN protection

Sharing your device with others? PIN protection enables you to lock your protection level in place with a unique four-to-six-digit combination. Under the Family level, PIN protection prevents children from switching to Protected, where adult content may be accessible.

To set up PIN protection:

1. Click on the Canadian Shield extension icon in your browser.
2. Choose your protection level, then toggle on “PIN protection.” You’ll be prompted to enter a four-to-six-digit PIN.
3. Enter and confirm your PIN. Once enabled, your selected protection level will be locked.
