The most benefit of using this tool is you have to install Evernote for Windows or for Mac and create an Evernote account and start syn it with this add-on. When you take screen shot with this Web Clipper it will automatically syn to the Windows or Mac app.

Give it a shot yourself. It works for me on Windows at least.

I was experiencing exactly the same issue as everyone else with the authentication problem. I resolved this by adding an 'Exception' rule for Cookies within Firefox. Open up the FireFox Options screen, click on 'Privacy' in the left hand menu, click on the 'Exceptions' button that is on this page, add the address of the website - https://evernote.com - give it an 'allow' status, click 'Save Changes'. Once I had done this, closed and restarted the Firefox browser. Clicked on the Evernote icon in the top toolbar, entered my Evernote credentials, and it worked straight away. The red dot is no longer there and clipping works brilliantly!

I was a little bit concerned reading all the negative reviews on here, but I just installed it and everything seems to be working smoothly and in the way I'm used to from Chrome. (FF 51.0.1 and OS 10.12.3)

I loved this when it worked...Clicking icon to clip presents new sign in screen but doesn't progress further. It broke sometime last week, reinstall seemed to work a few times but not anymore...Firefox 50.1.0. Roll back to earlier version seemed to fix it. Not appearing anymore in different machines that are sync with Firefox. Support site link does not link to this add-on's support site hence bug report in review section.

It was very convenient The beaten the fragments of text and copy them. For this is important.

Just works, like it should. Was shortly not working in the last months, but it was fixed just before I was going to cancel my subscription!

I was unable to use the plugin in Firefox for most of 2016, but so far I have the 6.9.3 plug-in working great on two Macs. (Using Firefox Developer Edition 52.0a2 though I don't know if that makes a difference -- my previous problems were across various Firefox versions)

Temporary fix for Evernote web clipper: steps
1. Remove Evernote web clipper Version 6.10.2beta1
2. Select and install Evernote web clipper e.g., Version 6.2.0

3. Select options > and Automatic Updates and click on 'off'

I installed this add-on and like so many others I got VERY frustrated with the "unknown error" in the sign-in box.
So I did some googling, and found the suggestion regarding AdBlock below (adding the @@||http://evernote.com^ exception); however, this did not help.
So I went one step further, and completely disabled AdBlock.

The sign-in worked flawlessly.

After that, I figured I'd re-enable AdBlock, only to find that suddenly WebClipper thought I had no Internet access. So I pulled up the filter preferences, and searched the whole set of list subscriptions for 'evernote.'
I believe there were four different entries, not including the exception rule I'd made.
Disabling those 4 list entries solved all the issues I was having.

I hope this helps other users that are frustrated with this add-on and that the dev's take a moment to let these frustrated users know that the add-on is 100% usable, just not automatic when paired with several (extremely common) adblocking add-ons and lists that are out there.

Hopefully there's a way to adjust the add-on's permissions or path such that it doesn't get stuck in this dead-end. At least a "no connection available. Are you connected to the internet? are you using an adblocker?" dialog that directs users to an Evernote how-to for disabling adblocking for Evernote functions.
