    Longtime fan of Startpage. This is truly concerning and sad. I’ve gotten emotionally so invested in Startpage,often even recommending it to people over DuckDuckGo these days and their anonymous view was also quite a great feature.

    Startpage has been around for many many years, I would never have expected this to happen, to be honest.

    And sold to a ad company by the name System1 ?
    Maybe you can consider changing the extension and the promising words? Its pretty misleading for being a "Private Search Engine" without trackers and ads, that now are sold to System1, one of the bigger ad crap companies out there.

    A shame really.

    Love StartPage, allows me to have the best in search results without the tracking. IMO, better than DuckDuckGo, and other alternatives that have partial IP, DNS leakage, etc.

    Just reading about the anonymous view and its explained so good, how the proxy anonymous view makes sites not knowing who you are. This explain can be found on information after clicking anonymous view beside the search result. So now i use this option and it have helped me even when i clicked a website that was suspicious, not what i expected when i opened, but since i use the proxy anonymous i increase my privacy drastic.

    Definitly earned my trust! 10 stars if that was possible

    Add-on works well. I like using Startpage.com, it's one way to filter a search engine. I put 4 stars because I'd add a way to save settings without a cookie via a web url for preferences on startpage. For example, on the settings page startpage.com offers already. Is there a way to add the weblink feature to this extension? I'd rather run the extension without cookies, if possible; otherwise I'll stick to the bookmarked webaddress I use for Startpage.com

    Switched from DDG over to Startpage. Nothing wrong with DDG but Startpage is just better, easier to access pictures in search and overall better search results. I also like the Anonymous View proxy a lot. Based out of the US they have probably the most privacy friendly laws you can ask for.

    Just the fact that the permissions for this extension got updated, and now dont even need to access browser tabs, proves Startpage are truly genuine committed to the strong privacy it offers.

    Superior search product and results over competitors. This product gives me peace of mind all activity stays private behind the scenes. Would recommend this extension to anyone that is wanting to protect their privacy without sacrificing their data, identity etc.

    The latest update requires "access to all tabs." I don't care WHAT new functionality you were trying to add or that you're "actively pursuing other options," you should have WAITED until you found another option BEFORE you pushed an update out.

    Im careful what extensions i install so i wasnt sure if i should install this or not. But i trust startpage and i believe startpage have good commitment to privacy.

    Thank's for deactivating browser tab permissions again. I update my vote from "bad" to "super".

    'Access to all tabs' is a NoGo. You might not abuse it now but this could happen in the future without knowledge of the user. Your note that this is only for a comment after the successful installation does not pacify me. This is like leaving my home unlocked since I cannot see any evildoer right now. Please remove this permission ASAP.
    I really like this extension, but now I will block any further update for it.

We’re actively pursuing other options to grab to grab the success page url without needing access to tabs.As a privacy focused company we believe in users’ choice; especially when it comes to privacy permissions. One other way to continue to search in private with Startpage without granting permission to your tab data is by using the extension from our website to set Startpage as your default search engine in Firefox.     I do not agree to the new 'access to tabs' permission being forced just for what? 'opening a marketing page'? is this an early april fools' joke? removed and will not install again, even if I might use your search engine for a few months before someone more reasonable comes along (with ublock, how else?).

One simple solution to continue to search in private with Startpage is to manually set it as your default search engine in Firefox (instructions below).
