I have 1558 BMs and your 'broken bookmarks' did not not complete the scan. So I tried 'missing bookmarks names', which found 4, but the list was most un-useful.

I would hope that clicking on the entry shown in your report would take me to the link in question to determine what to do.

seems OK but it didn't find my "unsorted bookmarks" which number in the thousands. I'm going to remove it and try it again in acouple of months.

I get so many false positives that it becomes really annoying. And there's nothing I can do. I double check the site, the link is correct, it isn't a redirect but comes back as broken. It will be nice to be able to whitelist these mistakes made by the checker. It stalls at the last link from time to time which is also a problem. (Firefox 57, about 540 bookmarks) I originally gave this three stars a while back but it still does a terrible job. About 35% of bookmarks come back as errors. Even after replacing so-called redirects with suggested alternatives it comes back as an error. It's much easier and better to save bookmarks as an html file and check with standalone link checker. I use Xenu. Thee errors went from 177 out of 540 to 11, which were true redirects I wanted to keep.

I run FF 57.0.3 x64 under Win7 Pro x64. Finding empty folders and duplicated bookmarks works OK. Finding broken bookmarks appears to work until it hangs right at the end (363 total bookmarks, 360 scanned). It is still responsive, but it never finishes the scan. This add-on would fill a real need if it worked properly, but as it is I can't use it, so I've disabled it and will wait for improvements. I have other add-ons that deal nicely with empty folders and duplicated bookmarks.

Nice extension. One feature that would make it better, in my view, is a way to bulk delete duplicate bookmarks. Nonetheless, thanks for making it available.

THIS EXTENSION WORKS FINE!....

I read a lot of complaints here about slowness or freezing, but decided to try it anyway.

I opened it up via the toolbar button and started the process of checking "broken bookmarks."

The extension found 11,348 bookmarks (total) and checked them - at a pace of about 1,000 per minute.

Then, when the field "Checking Bookmark Number" reached bookmark # 11,290, it seemed to stop counting up (freeze?), but the activity throbber was still moving.

Unsure, I went into developer tools and checked the activity, and saw that the page was not frozen and the extension's script was still working.

FYI: I use 2 PCs on my desk, so I turned my attention to my other PC and did some things on that one. About 10 minutes later, I turned back to the PC with this extension running and lo and behold, the "Checking Bookmark Number" counter had ticked up to bookmark # 11,292.

Realizing it was just gonna take some time for the "problem child" bookmarks to be checked, I let it go overnight.

This morning, I found the extension had completed it's job and I was able to delete duplicates, remove broken links and edit others, all right within the results window (tab).

The process of editing is a bit slow (one at a time), but I'm sure the developer will attend to that in good time.

All-in-all, well done. Thanks to the developer, we now have a bookmark checker for 57+ and we'd not had one for years!

Now that Go Parent Folder and Show Parent Folder (alice0775) are omitted, for power users Firefox is almost as useless as Chrome.
Concerning the ancient bookmark user interface, why should anyone use Firefox instead of Chrome ?

I uninstalled this in 2017 because it didn't work as expected. Following the developer's suggestion I've tried it again today and it appears to be fixed. It's found over a thousand errors and two-hundred and thirty broken links, and it's fixed them all in a flash. I'm happy to change my review to five stars for an excellent add-on.

The duplicate option freezes and doesn't work well

Simple and straighforward. Glad that it has the ability to delete the duplicate bookmarks right there within the add-on itself. The broken bookmark feature sometimes churns and churns and doesn't seem to finish, but that could be something on my end. Nice add-on.

Really nice addon. Works perfectly with the latest firefox. The only problem I think it has is that when searching the wrong bookmarks, sometimes it takes a while if there are a lot of mistakes of the bookmarks, and the screen doesn't show any results while it's working in progress. I think it would be better to display the list of found mistakes while it's still working. And adding a pause function would save those who don't want to wait. But anyway a good addon!

This add-on will only help you to find duplicates or broken bookmarks...

In any way IT WILL NOT help you to fix them! (e.g. you'll know that you have 10.000 duplicates and NO WAY to fix them !

As you may think when a buggy software makes duplicates, it can easily fullfill the whole space it gets in a few seconds. So, getting huge lots of wrong bookmarks is not a thing you did by hand, but it occurs... And knowing it has already occured with no tool to fix it, is a very poor help.

So, using an extension to tell me something is wrong, while I knew it yet, and would not have installed this plugin if I didn't know it, doesn't deserve a great valuation.

Go on further and provide a fix for the errors you detect, and I'll change my mind!
