DayTruth is built with a privacy-first, local-first architecture.

We do not sell your data.
We do not track you across the internet.
We do not store raw personal data on our servers.

Our goal is to help you understand your behavior without compromising your privacy.

What Data We Collect

Depending on the features you enable, DayTruth may collect:

Device & Usage Data (stored locally)

Application usage (app names, timestamps)
Browser activity (URLs, domains, active tab time)
Desktop activity (active window titles, idle time)
IDE activity (files, projects, coding sessions)
Calendar metadata (event time, duration, attendee count)

Health Data (optional)

Heart rate (HR)
Heart rate variability (HRV)
Sleep stages and duration
Steps, SpO2, and related metrics

Media Data

YouTube video IDs (via browser extension)
Spotify listening activity (if connected)
How Data Is Stored

All raw data is:

Stored locally on your device
Encrypted using AES-256 encryption
Protected using secure storage (Keychain / Keystore where available)

We do not have access to this raw data.

What Data Leaves Your Device

By default, nothing leaves your device.

If sync is enabled, only aggregated and anonymized metrics may be sent, such as:

Total productive minutes
Total distracted minutes
Number of focus sessions
Daily scores

We never send:

Exact URLs
App names
Health readings
Personal identifiers
How We Use Data

We use data only to:

Generate behavioral insights
Show patterns across your day
Provide analytics such as productivity score and deep work time

We do not:

Sell your data
Use your data for advertising
Share your data with third parties
Permissions

DayTruth may request permissions such as:

Browser tab access (to track active tab usage)
Usage statistics (Android)
Accessibility API (macOS)
Health data access (optional)

These are used only for functionality.

Third-Party Integrations

If you connect services like Google Calendar, Outlook, HealthKit, or Health Connect:

We only access minimal required data.
We do not store sensitive personal content such as emails or messages.

Data Retention
Local data remains on your device until deleted
You may uninstall the app anytime to remove data
Aggregated sync data (if enabled) may be retained for analytics
Your Rights

You can:

Disconnect integrations anytime
Delete your data
Disable sync
Uninstall to remove all local data
Security

We implement:

AES-256 encryption
Secure key storage
Local-first architecture
Changes

This policy may be updated. Updates will reflect a new effective date.
