A complete architectural rework of the icon engine, priority preloading, improved onboarding flow, and UX improvements.



This update introduces a far more resilient icon handling system and a polished onboarding experience. We've simplified the asset waterfall, implemented priority font preloading for instant responsiveness, and hardened data management to ensure your backgrounds and settings transfer perfectly every time.

✨ What's New

• 🌐 Cross-Browser Compatibility — Upgraded the codebase to natively support both Chromium (Chrome, Edge, Brave) and Firefox-based browsers, ensuring unified behavior and extension API handling across ecosystems.
• 🛠️ Modular Icon Service — Decoupled icon logic into a dedicated IconService object. This modular approach makes the codebase cleaner and prepares the tab for future custom icon sets.
• 🌐 100% Failproof Icon Engine — Added a fallback icon. This guarantees that shortcuts will always have a visible icon even if icon fetching fails or gets blocked in any way.
• ⚡ Priority Font Preloading — Fonts now begin loading the moment you open onboarding. Inter is prioritized for immediate rendering, while others (Poppins, Roboto, Montserrat, Quicksand, Comic Sans MS) load gracefully in the background.
• ⌨️ Onboarding Keyboard Navigation — You can now navigate the setup flow using your keyboard. Press Enter to continue to the next step and Escape to return to the previous one. The name input is auto focused too.

⚡ Improvements

• 📦 FontAwesome Caching — The service worker now intercepts and caches FontAwesome CDN assets, ensuring all interface icons work perfectly without an internet connection.
• 📡 Precision Network Management — Implemented an "Error Shield" and attempt counter that prevents the extension from spamming network requests during offline states or when a favicon is blocked.
• 🩺 Service Worker Safety Net — Hardened sw.js with global error handling to prevent "TypeError" crashes. It now strictly ensures the browser always receives a valid response object during network interruptions.
• 🚀 Hardened Onboarding Flow — Reworked the setup logic to be more intentional. The "Next" button remains strictly disabled until a choice is made, and the "Start Fresh" option is no longer pre-selected.

🐛 Bug Fixes

• Fixed a critical bug where custom backgrounds were not being added to the gallery when importing data via the onboarding screen.
