SUMMARY

Keep Your Time is a personal productivity extension. It measures how long you spend on websites and helps you set daily limits, focus schedules, and optional blocking.

WHAT WE COLLECT (CORE — NO ACCOUNT REQUIRED)

• Hostname only (e.g. youtube.com) and time spent per calendar day
• Stored locally in the browser (browser.storage.local)
• We do NOT collect or store: full URLs (path/query), page titles, page content, form input, passwords, or keystrokes
• Tracking runs only when the browser window is focused, the user is not idle, and the tab is http(s)

OPTIONAL (ONLY IF THE USER SIGNS IN FOR PRO / CLOUD SYNC)

• Email address and account identifiers
• Aggregated usage sync (hostname + duration) to our server over HTTPS
• Device name/browser label for the devices list
• Optional feedback message and email if the user submits feedback in Options

We do not sell personal data. There are no third-party analytics or ads in the extension. Payment (Stripe) happens only on the web dashboard, not inside the extension.

HOW DATA IS USED

• Show statistics in the popup and Options dashboard
• Enforce user-configured daily limits, notifications, focus schedules, and optional hard-block (redirect to an internal extension page)
• Optional cloud backup and web dashboard for Pro subscribers

DATA RETENTION & DELETION

• Local data: removed when the user uninstalls the extension or clears extension storage
• Cloud data: account holders can export or delete their account from the web dashboard (Settings → Data & account). Email requests: privacy@keepyourtime.org (GDPR-style requests, 30-day response target)

PERMISSIONS (PRIVACY-RELEVANT)

• Access to tabs / all websites: read the active tab URL to extract hostname only; no content scripts on third-party pages for tracking
• Idle: pause counting when away
• Notifications: limit alerts and optional eye-care reminders
• Scripting: used only on Keep Your Time's own sign-in page to complete optional OAuth (bundled code, no remote scripts)

MANIFEST (FIREFOX)

gecko.data_collection_permissions declares browsingActivity (required, local) and optional personally identifying / authentication data only when the user opts into account features.
