Wtf. I don't care if that's different wording of existing permissions, I don't want you to have those permissions, NordVPN.
If you look at the Proton VPN extension it only requires permissions for Access your data for account.proton.me and account.protonvpn.com. Whereas for Nord it's required to access all website data, not optional. If Nord needs to access data for account information, they should restrict it to Nord domain(s), rather than leaving it open for this extension to be able to read all website data. That seems like an implementation improvement they can make, rather than excuses. - Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Shadi, vor 4 TagenNordVPN is pushing an update to force data harvesting including privacy data and payment information. Even from paying users like me!

geschrieben am vor 3 TagenHello! Thanks for noticing. A few days back Firefox update changed how permissions are displayed, but we haven't introduced any new data collection. The broad language refers to existing info like your subscription ID and currency. We remain dedicated to privacy and only use the data necessary to keep things working for you. -L.L. - Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon NeoOne, vor 5 Tagen

geschrieben am vor 5 TagenHey, yesterday we had a Firefox extension update approved, and Firefox is now showing broader consent categories for data the extension already used. No new data collection was introduced on our side. The wording may look alarming, but in reality it refers to things like subscription ID/type, payment status, currency, etc. We remain committed to collecting only the minimum data necessary to provide and maintain the service. -L.L. - Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Atman, vor 5 Tagen

One could start think about if our data is actually private when using Nord products.
If this won't be reverted no way I'm gonna prolong subscription.
---
Edit: (forbidden URLs: look for ["Announcing data collection consent changes for new Firefox extensions" site:blog.mozilla.org] in search engine)- is what I assume is L.L. referring to.
I'd like to see explanation then why it was collected up until now, just simply policy was not requiring to explicitly be stated up until now.
Can this really, really cannot be avoided?Antwort des Entwicklers
geschrieben am vor 5 TagenHello! To be clear, no new data collection was introduced with yesterday's update. Firefox is now showing broader descriptions for existing data like subscription IDs and payment info. It might look alarming, but we are still focused on data minimization and only use what’s essential to provide the service. -L.L. - Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Krep_O, vor 5 TagenAs other commenters mentioned, it started to force privacy data harvesting.

Brilliant scheme.

geschrieben am vor 5 TagenHi! Just to clarify, our update yesterday didn't add any new data collection. Firefox is simply using broader categories to describe data we’ve always used, like subscription and payment status. The wording can look intense, but we’re still strictly committed to collecting only the bare minimum needed to run the service. -L.L. - Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Cookiz, vor 6 TagenLatest update asked permissions to gather personal data and payment information, which is unacceptable for a VPN organization.

geschrieben am vor 5 TagenHello! Just wanted to clarify that yesterday’s update didn't introduce any new data collection. Firefox has simply moved to broader consent categories for data we already used, such as subscription type and currency. The new wording can seem alarming, but our commitment to privacy and data minimization remains exactly the same. -L.L. - Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Greg, vor 6 TagenThe latest update sneakily forces privacy data harvesting, including financial information, forms, and payment data. This is ridiculous and should be banned.
RE: Stop making this sound harmless. Firefox is clearly asking me to approve new required data collection before the extension can update. I cannot reject these permissions separately, so in practice I either accept the added privacy risk or I cannot install the update.
The warning explicitly mentions personally identifying information, financial and payment information, authentication information, and location. That is not just normal technical wording. If no new data collection was introduced, then explain exactly why Firefox now requires this new consent and why users are being forced to approve it. At the moment it looks like a serious privacy downgrade, and I am not comfortable accepting it.

- Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon 4ron84, vor 2 MonatenCompletely useless. At some point during a long session, you might get logged out or the plugin might reset, and suddenly you’re browsing with your real IP address on all open tabs. Even the “KillSwitch” feature doesn’t deliver what it promises. Which is, of course, completely unacceptable if, for example, you want to run an anonymous X account.

geschrieben am vor 3 MonatenHello there. We understand your concerns! Please note that this permission is required due to the way the browser operates, and we have no control over it. We are still compliant with our no-logs policy and from our side, no permissions have been changed, so no data is collected and is fully protected. Apologies for the caused confusion. If you'd have any further concerns do not hesitate to contact us at support.nordvpn.com. G.M. - Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Bo Jonk, vor 3 MonatenThe add-on slows down my browser enormously. When it's on, it takes 10 seconds for the page to load, without it, not a second. It wasn't like this before. I had tried everything and reset Firefox, but it turns out that the NordVPN add-on slows everything down. So no recommendation from me. With my regular Nord app/subscription, I have no problems.
