It only started working after reinstalling Spotify through the Windows Store.
When clicking a link it starts playing the music, but there is a delay in the play bar. Might be a Spotify issue, but for some reason the extension "Open in Spotify desktop client" does not have this problem.
I like this extension better because it does not need all the added permissions.
