von Firefox-Benutzer 5831045, vor 7 JahrenThank's for deactivating browser tab permissions again. I update my vote from "bad" to "super".
Original comment:
'Access to all tabs' is a NoGo. You might not abuse it now but this could happen in the future without knowledge of the user. Your note that this is only for a comment after the successful installation does not pacify me. This is like leaving my home unlocked since I cannot see any evildoer right now. Please remove this permission ASAP.
I really like this extension, but now I will block any further update for it.

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON PERMISSION REQUEST REMOVAL
Over the last few days, Startpage has received valuable feedback regarding our recent extension update and valid concerns around our request to view browser tabs. We realize that users understandably would prefer not to allow such permissions. As privacy advocates committed to serving our community, the team made it our highest priority to address this issue.
Effective immediately our extension will no longer request access to browser tabs for existing and new users. See version update here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/startpage-privacy-search-engin/versions/
We appreciate all feedback and ask that you continue to openly communicate with us. Please feel free to reach out directly by email at support@startpage.com, by Twitter @StartpageSearch, or on product review sites. We review these daily and look forward to hearing from you.

We hear you, appreciate your review, and understand your concern. We’re actively pursuing other options to grab to grab the success page url without needing access to tabs.As a privacy focused company we believe in users’ choice; especially when it comes to privacy permissions. One other way to continue to search in private with Startpage without granting permission to your tab data is by using the extension from our website to set Startpage as your default search engine in Firefox. Below are straight-forward steps on how to do that. Trust is earned and we will continue to try to build back our trust with you. - Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Firefox-Benutzer 14151292, vor 14 TagenWas using this just fine for a while. Haven't been bothered by AI nonsense, and the search results are decent. Until today, when it decided to take issue with my VPN and block me from searching until...whenever it decides to unblock me, I guess? It had me fill out a form, then said I'd still be blocked until whenever it decides to unblock me. Useless to me now, I guess. Bye!

2) Searches from the address bar default to Safe Search: Moderate and there's no way to change that.
Just use a bookmark instead or make Startpage your home page. - Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Tommi, vor 2 MonatenIn letzter Zeit sehr häufige Serverprobleme mit 404. Eine Suchmaschine, die man suchen muss ist Schrott.

It's actively getting in the way of searches and harming the user experience. I'm not a fan of DuckDuckGo's results and policies, but I'm switching back. - Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon Sara, vor 5 MonatenThis is the ONLY search engine that hasn't included clankers like Gemini or Duck.AI (PLEASE advertise this, this is a major thing for me). On top of that, it is functional, and cares about my privacy. It's the trifecta!
- Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon Firefox-Benutzer 19517792, vor 8 MonatenIt seems to me that nearly all issues mentioned by reviews that are not 5 starts are not relevant anymore. Thanks for a great search engine that actually shows me results. On google, searching for "PCGarage free delivery" gets me an Emag result first, that isn't sponsored...how the heck does that work?...
- Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon seeley, vor 9 MonatenCannot search from the address bar without my ISP seeing what I'm searching. Please keep the search terms OUT OF THE ADDRESS BAR when searching from the address bar with Startpage. Is there a way to manually configure a Startpage search string so the search terms do not populate the address bar- when searching from the address bar with Startpage? Thanks.
NEVERMIND: I'm getting hit with "Sponsored" BS a the top of my search results. Back to DDG. - Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon Firefox-Benutzer 19231084, vor 9 Monatenотличное расширение, рекомендую!

- Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternenvon Firefox-Benutzer 13508883, vor einem JahrI went to the startpage site because duckduckgo was having issues briefly, and I added the search add-on, the type that you used to get on mycroft, in case I ran into trouble like that again. When I did this, it surreptitiously went ahead and installed this full browser extension as well. The process was either without my consent, or made to look like I was consenting to the thing I actually wanted.
Go figure, sketchy behavior by the company that used to use Alex Jones as a poster boy. I'm ticking with Duckduckgo, but I was alwas going to. This just confirmed my feelings about Startpage.Antwort des Entwicklers
geschrieben am vor einem JahrThanks for caring about privacy. Our extension follows normal installation steps and requires consent. Nothing is installed until you confirm using the standard Firefox dialogs. - Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternenvon LuccaLuke, vor einem Jahr
