by Penny, 2 months agoI'm transfem. I avoid discourse and argumentative posts on tumblr for my own mental health, and I made a side blog to uplift trans, nonbinary, and intersex folks: mutual aid, fun memes, positivity/reassurances, guides/tips for transition, and so on. I stayed in my lane and wanted to make people happy with my little zen garden of a blog.
My blog then got marked as red and I started getting non-stop harassment and doxxing in my asks and messages. I received messages telling me I was a danger to trans women, that I was faking my gender and that I'm secretly a "filthy theyfab tme MRA", that I was a psyop infiltrating the community, and so on. And of course, plenty of death threats, suicide bait, and slurs that I cannot in good conscience list here.
The reason? Because I had been reblogging posts uplifting transmascs and intersex people. I even responded to some of the asks stating where I even posted anything that could be seen as remotely harmful to trans women, and the *only* response I ever got was linking to a post saying "love your local trans men". That was it. That was the only 'proof' I ever got. After years of running that positivity blog, it was me sharing a post saying trans men deserve love that got me marked as red. I was forced to deactivate. And now I'm glad I never linked my main account to that alt account of mine, or else I'd probably have lost that one too. All because I, a transfem, wanted to show some love to my other trans siblings.
From time to time, I'll see screenshots of tumblr users who have been marked green with this plugin. Users that I have seen say the most vile transphobic and intersexist stuff ever (and also, often, pretty blatantly racist too, but that's not the scope of this plugin). And yet these people are marked green, despite their blogs being full of BLATANT transphobia against anyone who isn't transfem (and the "right" kind of transfem, as I can personally attest to now).
So to the users marking this 5 stars defensively, saying "ummm maybe you wouldn't be marked red if you cared about transfems :) after all this plugin is for us, not for you :) you're all just terfs who are mad at us for wanting to be safe :)"
Yeah, I guess so. I guess this plugin *is* for you, now. It used to be for all trans people, for marking transphobia of any kind, no matter what. Now the devs have rewritten the rules to exclude certain anti-transmasc slurs as being considered transphobic, constantly mark transmascs, enbies, and intersex folks as red for just existing, and let actual bigots run around rampant with a lil green box around their name. Transfems that uplift their transmasc siblings, even if they don't engage in the discourse, get marked as red and chased out of the community.
This plugin, way back in the day, used to simply mark transphobes. A flawed system, perhaps (having a plugin that simply shows 'good' or 'bad' people is going to be abused in some way), but I can't say the goal wasn't noble. Now when I see a screenshot of a tumblr user and they're marked green, I check their blog, and 80% of the time they're engaging in harassment against anyone who isn't in their little circle of trans radfems. And I do not say 'radfem' lightly -- I'm seeing actual radfem rhetoric being used to silence anyone they think is the 'enemy' to them. It is a disgusting reversal. Y'all literally harassed punkitt for MONTHS for saying basic, tame, milquetoast shit like "Hey maybe being mean to trans men is wrong, actually", because you've become so steeped in this ridiculous infighting discourse. And this plugin is just the right hand of the law to you.
So thanks, shinigami eyes and the fanatics that support it: you've made an infighting tool that lets you destroy anyone you want by marking them red for the pettiest reasons ever. You've made a plugin that allows you to ostracize whichever queer people personally piss you off.
"Safe for transfems" my ass.
Signed, a transfem that y'all decided to make un-safe.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19975913, 4 days agothis is not useful, easy for misinformation to spread via mass flagging campaigns. it is better to make your own opinions of someone. similar to AI it is not good to outsource your thinking ability.
- Rated 5 out of 5by otso, 5 days agoall negative reviews are by transphobes, mainly transmisogynistic trans men who want to stomp all over trans women and never get criticised for their transmisogyny. a great extension for transfems & transfem allies!
- Rated 2 out of 5by Winter, 10 days agoso while yes most of the people leaving negative reviews seem to just be transmisogynists, there are a concerning number of intersex people marked red. im gonna look into this more
- Rated 5 out of 5by lurby, 10 days agofantastic extension. It's very nice if you do a lot of research or news reading. I only wish that someone being colored by it included a little blurb on hover that quickly summarized why they got colored.
Don't be scared by the ratings. From what I can tell, the review bombing seems to be transmisogynists doing the DARVO thing, similar to when white people say "you know, calling people racist is the REAL racism". - Rated 5 out of 5by suiqune, 12 days ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by matrix900, 14 days agothis might actually be THE most transphobic extension ever created. like genuinely this thing hates trans people so much its unreal

- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 19975055, 18 days agoLook, regardless of your opinion on whether "transandrophobia" is real or not, being transphobic towards trans men is still transphobia and is still bad. There should never be a kind of trans person that it is acceptable to be transphobic towards, and just because you are trans yourself doesn't make what you're saying any less transphobic. A gay person can still be homophobic, a trans person can still be transphobic, and I have seen far too many transphobic trans people marked in green because they support trans women while oftentimes putting down or even parroting TERF rhetoric in regards to trans men or nonbinary people.
Giving it two stars because it served its purpose for a good while and I think it would be disingenuous to pretend it never worked; I have had it installed for years at this point and used to regularly contribute by going into transphobic threads and marking every transphobe in red so others knew and could block them, but I've seen too many false greens by this point, along with people marked red that have never said anything about trans people at all let alone say something transmisogynistic. And I don't want to hear the "multiple reports have to be made to get a red mark" argument, it's known there's groups that target people en masse to get a false flag in amidst the genuine flags. And if you are one of the people saying that all the people marked green are trans friendly, you've either successfully blocked and avoided all the transphobes or you're blind to transphobia directed at anyone that isn't transfem.
Finishing up by saying this tool no longer follows its own rules. It has never been exclusively a transmisogyny detector - it is even supposed to encompass exorsexism (listed as "enby-phobia"). Read the extensions own guidelines (shinigami-eyes dot github dot io) before claiming otherwise. - Rated 1 out of 5by marie, 18 days agounfortunately it's useless when you can't see why someone was flagged. a lot of people criticizing anti transmasculinity get flagged as red and a lot of straight up bigoted, enbyphobic, people who hate trans men get flagged green with no way to correct that. I'm very disappointed
- Rated 1 out of 5by hatsune piku, 18 days agoHaven't had this extension installed for years. Went to see just how bad it's supposedly gotten and. Yeah they weren't kidding. Tons of trans-friendly blogs marked red, and people who will say the most hateful things you've ever read about a group of trans people will be marked green. It has been taken over by those pushing the new wave of radical feminism with a "trans-friendly" coat of paint. And make no mistake: it is absolutely repackaged radfem rhetoric. It serves only to divide the community and isolate vulnerable transfeminine people.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Lvnya Rose, 18 days agoWorks exactly how one would expect it to. If you can understand the tenants of transmisogyny, you should be able to find people who also do on your dash. I haven't seen an unjustified green or red mark since using it.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Dr. Jigglebones, 19 days agobunch of gamergate mens' rights activist losers giving this one star because they're getting marked for being misogynists. it's literally the exact same gets-laughed-out-of-the-room misogyny but trans flavored.
if you saw a cis man going around saying "androphobia is a real thing and all these whiny feminists are just making things up" you would rightfully call him a loser and a grifter. but you throw trans in front of two of those words and apparently it's real now? use your brain for 5 seconds rather than parroting terf rhetoric couched in "inclusive" language. - Rated 1 out of 5by EvilEye, 20 days ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by experimentsixtwofive, a month agoUnreliable; frequently flags the wrong accounts
This extension was originally a great concept, but the database has been compromised by inaccurate reporting. A significant number of accounts currently flagged red are run by nonbinary, intersex, and transmasculine creators who actively promote trans-positivity.
Many users trust this tool to help them navigate online spaces safely, but it's currently doing the opposite by promoting false accusations and internal division. The developers need to step in, audit the database, and establish proper verification protocols.
I highly recommend avoiding this tool until it's properly moderated. - Rated 1 out of 5by iryskanotfound, a month agowhy are all trans men marked red? why people saying transandrophobia isn't real are marked green?
me when everyone who's not transfem is a bigot, but apparently not alexander lukashenko - Rated 1 out of 5by LenaraSys, a month agoInstalled it to check what all the drama was about, checked only on tumblr.
Reviews claim news articles and such are often marked correctly, which I have not tested and can thus not comment on.
Accounts marked green were a crapshoot between "good trans advocate" and "at bare minimum raising eyebrows with their stances on transmen or enbies".
Meanwhile of all the accounts I follow that were marked red, multiple were positivity accounts for more 'niche' or 'controverse' topics - including accounts for enby-related stuff, xenogenders, or even one that just spreads positivity about all types of plural systems.
At least one of which had nothing to do with transness at all? But I digress.
Multiple accounts that were outspoken about transmasc issues who dared occasionally point out transfems who were hostile towards transmascs were also marked red, despite not being transmisogynistic.
As such, my final verdict:
Either due to a lack of moderation, deliberate misuse by the community, or both, this tool has gone from a good idea to falsely marking innocent users as red for mild disagreements, oft with transphobic intent (how ironic).
I cannot reccommend using it.
If you still decide to use it, at least don't take the red or green markers as definitive - actually check accounts, and consider critically why someone might have been marked green or red.
(Additionally, accounts that praise shinigami eyes to the high heavens whilst unwilling to admit any flaws with it are sus as hell, which is useful when using tumblr as well.) - Rated 5 out of 5by blade1Muffin, a month agoI don't block anyone without reason and my dash is full of green and empty of red. Even people who occasionally get uindeserved flak are not marked red but remain neutral. I've seen why someone's marked red pretty quickly with rare exception. And the rare exception is just not being sure. People really exaggerate this problem and just don't recognize their transmisogyny. This includes trans women. Oh, I'm also a trans woman since people like to throw that out for extra credibility in these reviews.
- Rated 1 out of 5by River, a month agoGot marked red on tumblr for being therian/otherkin. This plugin is a joke with how much it's used for infighting/discourse and weaponized against people who are intersex, nonbinary, or transmasc(and apparently nonhuman identifying individuals now too)
- Rated 1 out of 5by Minerva, a month agounfortunately now a transphobic tool... of course i understand wanting to protect my trans sisters but not at the cost of hurting my trans brothers...
