Rakuten: Get Cash Back For Shopping by Rakuten

by PoopSmeller, 4 years agoComplete garbage extension and service. Unlike other services that do the same exact thing, Rakuten requires you to leave your PC completely vulnerable to ad tracking software with their ridiculous anti-adblock requirements. If you don't care about your privacy and getting your data collected by big tech, go ahead and get this addon. Otherwise, look somewhere else

posted 4 years agoWe take our Members' privacy very seriously. Our Privacy Policy does a good job of explaining how we use your information ( Rakuten.com/help/article/privacy-policy-360002101688 ). The permissions set by our extension allow it to track your eligible purchases for Cash Back. Our Members may also use our services without adding our Cash Back Button extension. It is just one of the many ways we offer to our Members to make our services work for them. They may shop through our website (Rakuten.com) or through our mobile app (available on Android phones, iPhones, and iPads) as well.
Most ad or traffic blocking extensions can be updated to create an exception for Rakuten, while staying active elsewhere. Typically, this can be fixed by visiting our website (Rakuten.com), opening the menu for the ad blocking extension, and updating the setting to allow the extension to trust our website. This should allow our Cash Back Button to work from any of our partnered merchant websites without issue. For more help, please reach out to us at socialhelp@rakuten.com.

ALWAYS shop local over a small kickback for selling your personal information, of course.
Rakuten: get the damn "icon" off my screen err at least give me the option, WTF - deactivatedDeveloper response
posted 11 days agoWe take the security and safety of our Members seriously. You can download and review the data we have on file for your Rakuten account (as well as request the deletion of that data) in the Privacy Preferences of your account on our website: https://www.rakuten.com/privacy-preferences.htm
We are sorry that newer icon feature isn't to your liking. You can slide that icon out of the way, up and down the viewed page. If this new feature is in the way, you can always uninstall our extension and shop directly through our app or through our website, Rakuten.com, going forward. - Rated 1 out of 5by Yakedo, 3 months ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18488372, 5 months agoInstalled and two out of two purchases did not track. Simply doesn't work. Contacted Rakuten and received the generic "we will reach out" response. Hard to believe there is something worse than their normal tracking. So not only is this add on extremely intrusive with pop ups it doesn't work.
Reply to developer response: How exactly will you "review this" other than to say we'll reach out to the merchant and if they didn't track it then it is the users fault? Fact is there are better cash back sites that actually have relationships with merchants rather than Rakuten's "oh well, it's your fault" response.Developer response

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19026091, a year agoThis used to be awesome. For the past year after I click on the cash back icon and confirm, NOTHING. I've literally lost hundreds of dollars since this app doesn't work. I've been promised money back, I click on what needs to be done, it's confirmed and NOTHING. It's a scam.

posted a year agoIf you see you are making Shopping Trips and our extension is activating, then it may be some internet traffic filtering service or VPN is active or an issue with the merchant recognizing the order as eligible for Cash Back through us. This may be why your eligible orders aren't reporting. Please reach out to our team at socialhelp@rakuten.com so we can dig into this for you. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16761587, a year ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16471973, a year agoIt said 20%. I used this as opposed to a promo with another website for vitamins. I got zilch. Nothing whatsoever after it popped up showing me 20%. Completed order.

posted a year agoIt sounds like our extension might not be pinned to the toolbar. Click the "puzzle piece" icon, then click "Pin to toolbar", to get our extension pinned back to your browser.- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 17059814, a year ago
