Reviews for Proton Pass
Proton Pass by Proton

by C Wolland, 3 years agoUpon reevaluating the Firefox Extension, Proton Pass, it's clear that it holds true to its commitment of being an entirely private and secure password manager—it efficiently safeguards all your data, metadata included. However, the user interface could see enhancements, particularly in terms of detail management. As it stands at the time of this review, only a limited portion of the screen is available for editing all your details.
A key gripe for me is the inability to adjust your login email address—a restriction that Proton itself doesn't see as crucial, suggesting users subscribe to a new package with a different address if desired. This is puzzling, especially since I've managed to alter my email address on other secure platforms like sync.com, which also incorporate end-to-end encryption. Such experiences affirm that this feature, indeed, can be integrated, even within E2E encryption models' framework.
Despite these early developmental challenges and teething issues—commonplace for any new product—Proton Pass, barring the aforementioned points, proves itself to be an impressive offering.

posted 3 years agoIf you're on a premium plan, you're able to log in with any of the additional email addresses you may have on your single paid account.
It's not possible to alter or disable the original email address tied to your Proton account at the moment, as this is not only used for Pass but all other Proton services as well.

If you have issues with autofill, simply click the email/password to copy/paste. Also allows numerous other security code and features to be saved under each profile. Also, if any company blocks your email address, you can create an alias to bypass those restrictions. The only hiccup I have noticed is integration with Samsung mobile keyboard can be finicky and refuse to autofill sometimes.

Everything requires an email now, so being able to take back control of who gets my information feels great. It makes it way easier to prevent spam because whenever your data eventually gets leaked you can simply remove the alias.
Additionally being able to sort entries by recently created is a small but very useful feature sorely missing from Bitwarden. No more creating entries that go straight into the void. - Rated 5 out of 5by Job1135, 3 days ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Consie, 4 days agoAs a basic password manager, it's fine.
But it is always finding ways to ask you to upgrade;
Want to add a secure field to a login? Upgrade.
Want to use 2FA more than a half a time? Upgrade.
And then, when I do want to see what the upgrade cost is, I can't! I subscribed through Apple Pay, so I can't use the website, and the app can't seem to figure out what to do.
Should change the tagline to: "Free* and unlimited** password manager [...]" - Rated 5 out of 5by chklauser@dg, 5 days ago
