by Firefox user 13482431, 6 years agoUpdate: Tried to use this as this is the one of the only ones that seems to "work" on the mobile Firefox platform. But today I had to uninstall it. The script that this addon keeps crashing and I have to either "stop script" or "continue" when it does crash the page. This addon is absolutely clumsy... Grateful that it is free, but even though it is free, it is unuseable...
OLD:
I really tried to love this extension. After getting a notice that a Dark Mode extension was no longer certified or checked or whatever the mozilla folks are determining safe use was no longer safe, I switched over to this one since it was "recommended" and seems like mozilla was ok with it (whatever the hell that means).
The interface is clumsy, can't you just implement a simple switch?
When you do turn it on or off, you have to refresh the page, which sometimes destroys the content of the page.
I really really tried to like it, not give it one star cause you deserve an extra start for effort, but the quality of this extension is an F. It's clumsy, too many options (just give us dark mode, 99% don't care to tweak the little things, it gets in the way).
Why are "dark mode" so hard to implement? Just flip the white to black, black to white, and if the pages don't come out right, we'll just force it back and complain to the webmaster. I just don't get it.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19953775, a day agoThis extension hijacks searches to include their referral tag to steal rep and/or money for themselves. When directly going to www.google.com and running a manual search in the search bar, this addon hijacks the search to include its referral tag, making Google think this app initiated the search. This is similar to how Honey steals money via referral codes. Go to Google, run a search, then disable the addon and do the same thing. Compare the URL bar.

- Rated 2 out of 5by Pro_Libra, 2 days agoRecently slowing down all pages on mozilla firefox and several other pages. If developers can fix this, this is the best extension. Please fix this "slowing down firefox" problem.
- Rated 1 out of 5by cunt, 2 days agodark reader recently started really slowing down web pages like reddit. a shame because the contrast toggle is really useful
- Rated 3 out of 5by sunnyfox, 2 days agoNifty extension that does what it says and used to be really useful, it helps reduce eyestrain by giving me a dark mode on websites that don't have it. I used to leave it on all the time. But lately (past 2 months or so) it's been slowing down firefox and I have to disable it for the page to load properly. Really hope the issue gets fixed soon - if yes, 5 stars!

- Rated 3 out of 5by 5L4Y3R, 4 days agoby far the most polished dark mode addon, for most people this is the one you want to use. unfortunately for mobile users who prefer to browse x.com (formerly twitter) with adblock instead of through the android x app, this extension will slow your phone to a crawl after a few hours of browsing, forcing you to clear data and quit firefox. long story short: this is a great extension, but it's not updated regularly enough for anyone to consider donating, it's clearly abandonded. check out "Dark Background and Light Text" by Mikhail Khvoinitsky for an alternative darkmode extension on Firefox
- Rated 2 out of 5by NSEW, 6 days agoIt breaks too often and when it does it locks up your browser for an extended period of time.
It struggles on far too many websites and ultimately slows down the majority of website load times. Things once blinked to load and this extension makes them hang.
Sad because it use to work a whole lot better, but I find myself disabling it more and more to the point Im wondering why I even keep it. I also think this is the cause for locking up the entire browser every once in a great while. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19943344, 7 days ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 16143547, 10 days agoWorks on most sites, though there's currently a memory leak issue when using it on Reddit. Memory usage climbs to 6GB+ for a single tab. I'll update my rating if it's ever fixed.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Kelly Bryan, 12 days agoReally solid extension. Clean and lightweight, fits perfectly into my workflow. Does exactly what it promises.

- Rated 2 out of 5by gleb-yukhymenko, 12 days agoFrom my experience of using the extension, the add-on seems to be unsatisfactory at best, and unusable at worst. For instance, basically every site that I visited had the logo at the lop-left corner of the screen blend in with the background in terms of color. It will also sometimes just not work as expected, and by sometimes I mean almost all of the sites that I visit. Even the site on which I'm writing this review (addons(dot)mozilla(dot)org/) is in white mode while running the extension. You should really fix your utility before asking users to donate $10 (which happens immediately, mind you).
