by Gordon, a year agoAfter seeing the amount of brain dead one star reviews for this extension it needs to be said that whenever this extension is causing your browser to run slow its either one of three things that its actually the fault of the extension with badly optimised code, a website itself has change technologies or its the browser itself. Recently it has been the last two so anybody who has written those reviews without for example, not considering maybe the extension runs fine on another browser you are NOT being open minded.
Furthermore a lot of people are now thinking you have to pay to use this extension now that they are asking for donations, the fact of the matter is a lot of people are not bothering to realise that it says "PAY FOR USING" not "PAY TO USE", talk about dyslexia.

- Rated 2 out of 5by InternetPerson, a day agoIf this isnt updated to run with reddit I'm going somewhere else. This month this addon has been crashing my browser.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 16143547, 2 days agoWorks on most sites, though there's currently a memory leak issue when using it on Reddit. Memory usage climbs to 6GB+ for a single tab. I'll update my rating if it's ever fixed.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Kelly Bryan, 4 days agoReally solid extension. Clean and lightweight, fits perfectly into my workflow. Does exactly what it promises.

- Rated 2 out of 5by gleb-yukhymenko, 4 days agoFrom my experience of using the extension, the add-on seems to be unsatisfactory at best, and unusable at worst. For instance, basically every site that I visited had the logo at the lop-left corner of the screen blend in with the background in terms of color. It will also sometimes just not work as expected, and by sometimes I mean almost all of the sites that I visit. Even the site on which I'm writing this review (addons(dot)mozilla(dot)org/) is in white mode while running the extension. You should really fix your utility before asking users to donate $10 (which happens immediately, mind you).

- Rated 2 out of 5by zaibutzu, 10 days agolatest May 7 version makes reddit totally unusable, crashing the site
- Rated 3 out of 5by Webzilla, 11 days agoWith the latest Firefox update (version 150.0.2, May 7, 2026), this extension causes slow-down in the Reddit website, and only there. Screen updates lag or become unresponsive for long durations on the Reddit site. Firefox then shows a notification bar right below the address bar saying Dark Reader is causing the slowdown. Please fix if you can.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 19918529, 13 days agoWorks pretty well, but they broke something with the most recent update, and it's causing a huge memory leak. I had to go back to 4.9.124
- Rated 1 out of 5by Lou, 13 days agoUsed to be great, but more and more it'll make some sites like run 10-30x slower until they crash your browser tab. (Tested and confirmed it was this extension)
