- Rated 1 out of 5by AC⚡️DC, 2 hours agoMate, no other add-on stuffs up as much as this one. Today 50 of me tabs got blocked; I could only remember about ten off the top of me head – the rest are gone for good. That’s why I’m chuckin’ it today; the risk’s way too high. A couple of times a year somethin’ goes pear-shaped, so I gotta switch the add-on off. I’ve had a bloody gutful now!
- Rated 1 out of 5by Promestein, 3 hours agoyep nice .. every single website was blocked on my tab. I googled to look how to unblock everything with one click and did everything, even checked for database updates and nothing worked ... everything is still blocked .. had to manually unblock everything .. thank you very much for this work. Something that blocks everything out of the blue is the last thing someone wants.

posted 2 hours agoWe’re sorry. Browser Guard incorrectly blocked some legitimate sites today because we had a database update that caused a false positive.
An automatic fix is already underway via a database update. If you’d like to fix this manually, click the Browser Guard extension → Support → Check for DB Updates to make sure you have the latest database. - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 14824158, 4 hours agoWas great until it decided to block every single one of my tabs. What's wrong with reddit and google searches? And it didn't just block them, 80% of them couldn't be rewound so I lost most of my groups. Seriously, quality check your updates for crying out loud.

It blocked every single tab I had, even the pinned ones. The version was last updated Sept 30, 2026 (today is Oct 1st). It was working all day and then out of the blue it blocked every single tab. What a mess.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

I don't know what idiot authorized this latest update but it's completely broken web browsing. Github wont load the landing page properly and it's just a bunch of text on the left side of the screen and several websites I frequent are being blocked now as "scam" sites, when they arent. In fact I can't get "scammed" anyways because I have an ad-blocker. Roll it back, undo this disaster.
Edit: Disabling the plugin until this is fixed.Developer response

Addon decided everything was malicious and crashed the browser causing every tab and tab group to be lost.

Only allows going on Google, surprisingly. Can only go on websites by disabling the addon. Hopefully it gets fixed quickly.

posted 15 hours agoTo be clear the Firefox version of Browser Guard has zero telemetry gathering.
Regarding the optional options, it is true in 3.3.6 we have enabled the Search Results Reputation feature for all users when it was optional for users before.
If you turn it off now, it will be respected. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 20167837, 14 days agoWhen i disable this extension, my videos on an anime site starts working again, this never had an issue on chrome but it stop after a few seconds on firefox

posted 9 days agoI'm sorry to hear that happened. It may be an ad block preventing the loading of the video, but it's hard to say without knowing which website. Can you share please at help.malwarebytes.com? - Rated 5 out of 5by Broseph Jasper, 15 days ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18208822, 18 days agoSince it runs in the background, I really don't know what it's doing. But on more than one occasion it has blocked potential malware. It has popped up a notification on the screen advising not to go to that link. It does exactly what I want it to do.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Goofy3696, 22 days agoI know that the company Malwarebytes has been around for quite some time and that the company name is a play on words. What I am going to say that the product(s) this company produces,as a whole, "BITES!!" I am running Windows 10-Pro 64-bit. From the website filehippo.com. I downloaded the trial of their software. Well, that was quickly uninstalled when it was detecting regular software as PUPs and putting them into quarantine. Not only that it was causing my PC to become unstable. After doing a total uninstall and removing any leftovers in the Registry, my PC returned to normal This is when I found their browser extension. After the extension started causing Firefox to become as steady as a one-legged man walking a tightrope, I understood why there is a warning at the top of the download page that reads as follows. "This add-on is not actively monitored for security by Mozilla." I was getting errors that I NEVER received prior to installing the extension. This extension stopped me from accessing my GMAIL, eBay, Amazon, and Walmart accounts on more than one occasion. While surfing those sites, I will get the pop-up window stating that the website could be harmful. Webpages would not fully load, or if they did load, it was only the text and not the interactive HTML. Lastly, it would make the browser act like it was running at dial-up speeds. Well, guess what. Just like with my installing the software for my PC, uninstalling the extension from my Firefox browser, it returned it to normal. There are other products out there that do the same thing, if not better and will not give you migraines while using them.

These are certainly some severe issues you encountered, and it's probably a long-shot but perhaps you can share more details at https://forums.malwarebytes.com/forum/254-firefox/ ?
I'm curious about:
- Hardware details (Ram, CPU, GPU etc.)
- Firefox version info
- Any other add-ons installed that could be creating a conflict - Rated 1 out of 5by Victor, 25 days agoEver since I installed this extension, Firefox has become horribly slow. Basically, it slows down the performance of other extensions (especially email management ones). As soon as I uninstalled it, Firefox went back to normal.

I posted this previously 25 days ago, and a Dev said to go to the Help link to report the problem. However there was nowhere on the Help Site to submit a new query, just talk to a live agent, and I don't have time to do that, I am at work.
Anyway, an example of a blocked link was

This block has been resolved, keep an eye out for v3.3.5 which has improvements to our Tracking Attempt block feature. - Rated 5 out of 5by casswizard, 2 months agoI really like malwarebytes I've been using it for years!
One quick question, I'm working on a project that requires geojson data and was hoping to download the files from this repository which I believe to be an official repository from Natural Earth Data which hosts a range of datasets relating to geography and maps.
Why is this repository or user flagged? (I can't post URL's so will post the user and project name from Github)
Site: github
User: nvkelso
Repo: natural-earth-vector
File: Any geojson file
Is there anywhere we can report potential false positives?Developer response
posted 2 months agoHi casswizard,
Happy to hear you've been using us for years ❤️
I checked the repro in question and wasn't able to reproduce the issue on the latest database, so it appears the block was removed.
If you are still experiencing the block, check for any database updates by doing the following:
- Click the Malwarebytes icon in your toolbar
- Click "Dashboard"
- Click "Support & diagnostics"
- Click "Check for Database updates"
To report a false positive in the future you can join us on the forums https://forums.malwarebytes.com/forum/123-website-blocking/ .

- Rated 3 out of 5by Ruz, 4 months agoThis is a pretty good extension. However, I have had issues where firefox loses all network connection if loading pages with a lot of media, or scrubbing youtube videos fast. I now, after at least a year tried disabling the malwarebytes extension and that fixed the issue i was having.
Hopefully this is something you can solve in future updates.Developer response
posted 4 months agoHi Ruz, thanks for reporting.
We would like to investigate this issue deeper.
Any chance you could open a support ticket to share more details please?

- Rated 1 out of 5by Gianfranco, 4 months agoBroken cookie banners on multiple sites.
I wanted to report that this extension causes cookie banners to malfunction on various websites. The banners disappear after just a few seconds, without giving users enough time to manage their consent. I am experiencing this major issue also on my own WordPress site, which uses the Cookie Complianz plugin.
Since these banners are configured to automatically reject cookies when closed (keeping them disabled until explicit user consent), certain website functionalities break entirely. The only workaround is to disable the extension's ad/tracker protection, which the vast majority of users obviously won't do.
UPDATE - Reply to your answer:
Thanks for the reply, but there is a misunderstanding here.
I am using Complianz, not CookieYes (the link provided in your response belongs to a different plugin).
Complianz is strictly configured for prior consent (opt-in). This means that if Malwarebytes blocks cookieblocker.min.css, it doesn't cause trackers to load; instead, it completely breaks the banner layout.
The real issue is that the user is physically prevented from interacting with the banner because it vanishes immediately. If a user actually wants to consent to load a YouTube video, a Google Map, or a social widget, they simply cannot do it because the interface is broken by the extension.
This is a False Positive purely based on the filename string. Please consider forwarding this to the development team so they can whitelist or fix this specific filter. Thank you.Developer response
posted 4 months agoThanks for your report!
If users want, they can turn this setting off anytime for a specific page from Browser Guard's dashboard.
A quick heads-up: When someone uses Malwarebytes or another ad blocker, their consent is automatically denied. In those cases, your site should only use the essential cookies needed to keep things running smoothly.
Avoid blocking features for users with ad blockers — that could cause GDPR issues.
If you want to learn more, check out the Cookieyes knowledge base (https://www.cookieyes.com/knowledge-base/cookie-consent/what-is-cookie-auto-blocking/) or have a quick chat with your legal team.
