Read Aloud: A Text to Speech Voice Reader by LSD Software

by Lucas, 2 years agoThe good point is that it reads smoothly. It highlights the paragraphs, which is helpful, but not the words being read. Therefore it is difficult for me to know where in the paragraph we are, if I want to start follow the reading at any point of the flow.
It opens a little window on the top right of the browser and this window closes down if you click somewhere else. This is not useful if you like to take notes while being shown where in the text the reading is happening.
No images are shown in that window, only text. Therefore sometimes I don't know to which picture I should look at in the original page (in the text sometimes it says "...as demonstrated in the picture on the left"). I tried to scroll down on the original text whenever I heard that but then the little window would close and I'd lost myself once again. Too much cognitive load.
In my opinion it would be best if the read aloud took place in the original page, not in a popup window.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Mike, 7 hours agoMy eyesight is deteriorating and I have found Read Aloud to be a lifeline because it is simple to use, unlike a couple of the more sophisticated/complex key command driven tools that require frequent practising to memorize the commands.
While there are sometimes mispronunciations of known words, the usefulness of the tool far outweighs any disadvantages.
Also, while selecting the voice, I didn't come across any accents that could be identified as truly Canadian, but I have managed to find one that is fairly close. - Rated 1 out of 5by Nicolap, 5 days ago

1. Click the permission thing in the settings that show up when you choose this voice.
2. Press the grant permission button.
3. A new page will open. Do NOT press the blue button that says "Try text-to-speech free" or "Start free". Scroll down and press the other blue button that says "Speak it" or similar.
4. Click "I am not a robot" and do a stupid test thing such as clicking on all boxes that contain bridges.
5. Now everything should work and you can close these tabs! - Rated 1 out of 5by kandosh27, a month agoLa extensión se salta frases, palabras en muchas paginas, tienes que revisar a mano que se salta

With the standard columns, it always pauses briefly at the end of each line. If it would first analyze the entire sentence and then read it aloud in one go, that would be much more pleasant. I would find pauses between sentences much more pleasant!
