- Rated 1 out of 5by val, 11 days agoit worked very well for the first few months, but recently the audio has began bugging.
im not sure how to explain it well, but it kind of sounds like those annoying "earrape" (for lack of a better word) audios people use to troll with. ill listen to a video from bed and the audio will be fine, it goes quiet for a moment and then starts blasting like that, and i have to get up to fix it.
it usually fixes if i just pause the video and unpause it, but its been getting worse where it happens a lot more often than usual, (sometimes every ~5 mins) doesnt stop after one pause, etc. and its gotten very annoying.
the extension is nearly perfect but this one thing just completely ruins it.Developer response
posted 2 days agoI added a ton of patches, 6.6 is still pending update approval from FireFox, but if you go to the support page you can sideload and test.
I never experienced the issue you mentioned yourself, but any possible flaws have been fixed in 6.6 - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19939033, a month agoTwitch audio breaks while the extension is active. Also doesn't work on most websites.

posted 11 days agoThis is a limitation of the site, the script should no longer have audio blocking but it will only let you lower volume on sites with strict CSP. CSP blocks extensions from manipulating the site/audio. - Rated 1 out of 5by mudkipkid1, 2 months agoThis addon still disables streaming sites like amazon prime and crunchyroll from playing videos. annoying...
Developer response
posted 11 days agoIt shouldnt after the last patch, and the solution was theres been a toggle to disable it on unsupported sites for over a year now. Here in Canada it does work on amazon prime for me. TBF FIrefox has fallen far behind and I use my extension on Edge. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19911397, 2 months ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19330871, 2 months agoI get some videos in other tabs without audio.

posted 2 months agoThe mute should be fixed, but I still cant manipulate the volume up; its a CSP issue; [the site blocked the script and so when it tried to access it audio breaks, but thats why there's a blacklist.] - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19820541, 3 months agoMutes audio on some sites I wanted to use it on. Works perfectly on sites where I don't need it. Great.

Maybe caused by some lack of DRM code.

Half the sites I go to brick the player until I turn off the volume booster. So dumb

Do you mind trying again and updating your review? - Rated 1 out of 5by Slinx, a year agowould be 5 stars, but it makes all audio on the browser crackle and even slightly stutter
Developer response
posted a year agoIt really shouldn't the only reason it should crackle is if you turn the volume past 0db because some audio sources might peak.
Your issue of audio crackling is usually a non-grounded auxiliary or, a high memory latency / memory bug.
When I was on z97 and had my memory set to 2133mhz [a very high xmp value for ddr3] the audio constantly crackled when running certain applications. This can also be experienced when running with a lack of buffer while using an ASIO driver.
Completely unrelated to the plugin itself but maybe exacerbated by it. Developer response
posted a year agoIf you open the popup to control the volume then on most sites that have html video it should be able to increase the volume unless the site employs a strict CSP.Developer response

Do you mind trying again and updating your review? I added error handling that tells you why its not working.- Rated 1 out of 5by Jasmin, a year ago

posted a year agoThe channels are not individually controlled so it shouldn't if you have issues with stereo, you can employ mono.
Do you mind trying again and updating your review?- Rated 1 out of 5by Sev, a year agoNo longer works on Meta-owned sites, which are the entire reason I installed it (given Facebook videos have no volume sliders). Trying to use it on Facebook or Instagram since the latest update now causes a "This site is in the exclusions list" despite having not changed any settings on my end. I'm sure this is due to a change with Meta, but it defeats the purpose of this extension for me.
Developer response
posted a year agoUnless it's in the exclusion list, it shouldn't display this message. Please paste your log in the github issues..... you can also temporarily downgrade to an older edition from the github releases page or the versions page on mozilla https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/volume-control-boost-volume/versions/
Hope I can help you resolve your problem and you can revise your review to 5 stars. I jut do this as a hobby.
Do you mind trying again and updating your review? - Rated 1 out of 5by kibababa, a year agoWorks good but on some web sites breaks audio completely (e.g. Steam) and it's not possible to know that audio is broken unless you know it should be playing on the website. Too much hustle...
Developer response
posted a year agoIts because steam blocks it in their CSP, sadly lots of CDNs do.
I could individually add each one to the FQDNS list, but like you said that's a lot of hassle and it has to be reaproved by mozzila everytime etc.
The way audio source is pulled is on page load. If it's doing it too late lots of sites won't interact with the plugin. Where as its an issue on sites with strict CSP as then it just blocks audio.
So sadly there's nothing I can do about it, without further reducing compatible sites.
Could maybe make a whitelist mode instead of a blacklist mode in the future.
I hope you revise your review as it "works good"

Developer response
posted a year agoThat shouldn't be possible its initialized per tab.
Do you mind trying again and updating your review? Developer response
posted a year agoIt works but some sites have CSP rules that block it from initializing/breaks audio. Add those sites to the blocklist in the settings.
