by Le Roux Jacques, 5 years agoI use Win7, Firefox 56.0.2 64 bits (please don't ask why). I must say that I use Dark reader for a long time and was quite happy (5 stars) until Version 4.9.35.
The (latest) version (4.9.37.1) does not work either on Win7+Firefox 56.0.2 64 bits (sorry I need this config). It displays "loading in progress ..." (or something like that) and that's it.
Uninstalled and replaced by the previous version (4.9.34) (thanks to https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/darkreader/versions/) works. Except that on the next load the automatic extensions update replaces it by the (last ) version. For now I have removed the automatic extensions update, not a big deal, rare are the extensions that update w/ my config ;)
All works properly now \o/ I just stopped to upgrade above 4.9.34.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 16143547, 4 days agoWorks on most sites, though there's currently a memory leak issue when using it on Reddit. Memory usage climbs to 6GB+ for a single tab. I'll update my rating if it's ever fixed.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Kelly Bryan, 5 days agoReally solid extension. Clean and lightweight, fits perfectly into my workflow. Does exactly what it promises.

- Rated 2 out of 5by gleb-yukhymenko, 5 days agoFrom my experience of using the extension, the add-on seems to be unsatisfactory at best, and unusable at worst. For instance, basically every site that I visited had the logo at the lop-left corner of the screen blend in with the background in terms of color. It will also sometimes just not work as expected, and by sometimes I mean almost all of the sites that I visit. Even the site on which I'm writing this review (addons(dot)mozilla(dot)org/) is in white mode while running the extension. You should really fix your utility before asking users to donate $10 (which happens immediately, mind you).

- Rated 3 out of 5by Webzilla, 12 days agoWith the latest Firefox update (version 150.0.2, May 7, 2026), this extension causes slow-down in the Reddit website, and only there. Screen updates lag or become unresponsive for long durations on the Reddit site. Firefox then shows a notification bar right below the address bar saying Dark Reader is causing the slowdown. Please fix if you can.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 19918529, 14 days agoWorks pretty well, but they broke something with the most recent update, and it's causing a huge memory leak. I had to go back to 4.9.124
- Rated 1 out of 5by Lou, 14 days agoUsed to be great, but more and more it'll make some sites like run 10-30x slower until they crash your browser tab. (Tested and confirmed it was this extension)
