Bitwarden Password Manager by Bitwarden Inc.

by Jason, 8 years agoThis addon is a must for anyone looking to escape the world of Closed Source Software. As such the biggest pro is this is open-source. However some limitations amount to annoyances. LastPass atleast for the moment has better detection on password changes and registrations (atleast on Linux tested on Google-Chrome, Firefox and Chromium). Another annoyance I recently ran into is premium features I would suggest should be able to be toggled off so as to not make this software feel like shareware/freeware. The import of my LastPass Vault went pretty straight forward but had a few minor issues that I quickly figured out.... Infact its been a few months since and I can't recall but I believe it had to do with a few comments?? Luckily nothing major and I have a huge vault so I expect most users to be able to import without problems and whatever issue I may have ran into likely may have already been corrected. This addon has a lot of potental so please don't view my review as anything but constructive criticism! Currently I am on the fence over detection of changed passwords/missed registrations since thats a huge pro for me. I'd give this 3 stars if it were not for the open-source factor which is a huge security improvement in password management. Encryption is nice but if it is implimented poorly it is useless so by being open-source I feel that user scrutiny will catch anything that might not be caught in closed-sourced software.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Jisk, 7 days agoI used this for a long while and still have the app, but the extension's disabled. It reliably fails to unlock the vault, it just loops back to the unlock prompt without even a password field. But at least it's not actively harmful.

- Rated 3 out of 5by hnxeast, 9 days agoFor some time now, when entering the PIN in Bitwarden, the input is cleared before it can be confirmed. Only after entering the PIN a second time does it remain stable and allow confirmation. This issue occurs in both Firefox and Chromium browsers; I have not tested others. Bug or a security problem? It leaves me with an uneasy feeling

- Rated 3 out of 5by awawawaawawa, 10 days agoworks reasonably well but has a lot of annoying bugs that just seem to be getting worse over time. recently my biggest annoyance right now is that when I enter my PIN it sometimes doesn't register all key presses or sometimes just straight up deletes some of them for some reason.
- Rated 5 out of 5by PrettyKoolGuy, 11 days agoLove Bitwarden. Please add Customizable vault item templates and Additional Pre-defined item types (like Wifi passwords, SSH, database connections, etc.) Proton Pass implements them elegantly, and I would love to see these features come to Bitwarden.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Jake Hillion, 14 days agoGenerally a very good password manager, but a flaky add-on. I rely on Touch ID a lot and the add-on has had a bug for a very long time where Firefox full screen on macOS will be knocked out of fullscreen when you Touch ID. Also, the biometrics very rarely work first time after a reboot. Minor annoyances add up for something as frequently used as a password manager.

- Rated 2 out of 5by zemixboy, 17 days agoThe Bitwarden extension in Firefox version 115.33.0esr (64-bit) on Windows 7 64-bit installs but doesn't work. When clicking the "Bitwarden" icon on the extensions panel, the popup window appears and the loading circles spin indefinitely. The Bitwarden website logs in and works normally, but the extension does not work. For Google Chrome browser, the Bitwarden extension works correctly. Please fix the bug in Firefox. How to reproduce the problem? Uninstall the Bitwarden extension from Firefox — restart the browser — reinstall the Bitwarden extension — and it does not work.
