Return YouTube Dislike by Dmitry Selivanov

by Junaid Ahmed, 3 years agoUpdate: Just learned that the dislike count of YouTube videos are no longer accessible. This addon guesses the dislike from it's users (which it failed to mention in it's description). Reducing the review to 3 stars.
Original review: People used to use the dislike counts and compare it with like count to determine if he/she should waste half an hour on this tutorial video. Or if he/she should blindly trust that news clip where the channel have already turned off commenting. This add-on is a very useful tool against YouTube's political decision to protect the face of pro-western news channels on controversial issues.
However, we would be very happy if the add-on gets the free "recommended" badge so non-programmer users can use this great add-on without fear. Thanks to the dev.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Cameron Owens, 6 days agoI know everyone's gotta eat and nothing is truly free, but the way the large advertisement is implemented is obnoxious at best. I'll be uninstalling for the time being.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Nicky McCurdy, 8 days agoThis extension is trying to monetize showing one bit of useful information on the page with intrusive ads and a premium tier.

posted 9 days agoMonetization is needed, among other things, to pay for operating the extension.
Only advanced new features are paid - what you had for free is still free, and will always be free
All other extensions\apps with dislikes are using my API - with the api dying due to lack of funds - all other apps will die as well.
Unfortunately the extension requires quite a large database (~15TB) serivng 20 million unique daily users (chrome is not the only platform) - and it costs money.
The idea behind paid features was also to cover the costs (since donations became smaller than the hosting costs). Without bothering free users too much. Developer response

If that's the direction this add-on goes in aka locking key features behind a paywall - I'll remove this. I do get that an add-on like this can be pricey to maintain but this could have been handled better imo.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 17670395, 12 days agoI no longer trust the developer after an intrusive advertisement was added. I am going to find another way to view dislikes or none at all.
Developer response
posted 12 days agoYeah, sorry about that. The changelog tab was supposed to be shown on browser restart - i.e be much less intrusive. - Rated 1 out of 5by Simon, 12 days agoDodgy shenanigans are going on with this extension for Chrome, with pop under adverts for some "premium" scam. Lost all trust in it and the developer, so removing from all browsers on all devices.
