by Firefox user 13442417, 8 years agoAbout the only issue I have, and it is fairly minor, is that I would like to choose download location more easily, like the old right-click method where the window pops up into the default location or the last download location and you can choose from there rather than having a drop down then choosing to choose, then finding the place you want to download to. This is a relatively minor inconvenience since most of my downloads at a given moment go to the same folder so I download to a default folder in my download folder then transfer the entire session's worth to their final destination when my downloading session is finished.
Other than that, it is easy to use and works well on most sites I have tried it on (mostly educational sites offering MOOCs and other such sites). I use a specific YouTube downloader for YT videos.

- Rated 1 out of 5by X5-176, 3 hours agoUPDATE: As of today 11-07-25, I just got an email from Mozilla saying they checked in and reviewed this extension and it DOES violate Mozilla's policies, and they are contacting the developer to make changes to the extension and if he doesn't they WILL remove it.
1 Star rating he's now putting a qr code on our videos being downloaded to force us to buy, already bad enough he wanted us to download a 3rd party companion app to make the extension work properly.
This was a bait and switch on his part, he wanted as many people as possible to download and use the extension and now he's trying to force us to buy it, pretty scummy imo.
Uninstalled and possibly never coming back to it, there's other alternatives this was just the easiest at the time.
Will keep come back now and then to make sure others know how bad and scummy this move was though. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19564229, 4 hours agoone of most Fattest QR code known to man. i'll pass on this one champ.

- Rated 1 out of 5by ma-, 3 days agoWhy is Mozilla allowing this bait and switch application here? You install the extension and then after a few working downloads it starts trying to get my to install a binary on my machine.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18646623, 4 days agoI see complaints from reviewers about paying $30 for the full version to avoid the watermark on copied videos, but I've been using the paid version of Videodownloadhelper for over two years and have downloaded hundreds of videos very easily. Yes, when there are updates it has taken me a minute to find where to add the lifetime key (could be more intuitive, Paul!), but it's doable and $30 is a small price to pay for lifetime use! It works great - many thanks!!

- Rated 1 out of 5by GrabbenD, 4 days agoFreeware/adware as of 2025. Requires external companion app (CoApp) to download videos which itself injects a watermark with link to payment for removal. Ever since this change the extension rarely gets updated
