Unhook: Remove YouTube Recommended Videos Comments by Unhook

by Peter Konrad, 6 years agoI like how it removes all the video suggestions below any videos I just watched, so I don't have to scroll down ten meters to get to the comment section, which is the interesting bit. That is the reason I installed this extension. It is completely beyond me why youtube changed its layout in this user-unfriendly way and I hate them for it.
However, this add-on also removes all the video suggestions from the youtube starting page. But when I call up that page, the suggestions are actually what I want to see. I do that from time to time. There is a time and place for everything. This should be configurable.

Developer response
posted 6 years agoIt is configurable. See the extension screenshots. If you click on the icon on desktop, there's a popup with the options (to show the homepage uncheck "Hide Homepage Feed"). On mobile, click on the three dots and "Unhook YouTube" to load the options page.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Zekas, 14 days agotl;dr: Not updated in two years, likely abandoned and you should avoid it. Will cause unexpected issues sooner or later.
Used to be good and greatly improved the YouTube experience but hasn't been updated in two years as of writing and functionality is breaking more and more as YouTube changes. Unless you only want a specific thing function and can confirm it does that, don't expect it to work smoothly. Expect changes from YouTube to have unexpected consequences at any time. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19762021, 18 days ago

- Rated 2 out of 5by LS, a month agoAbandoned, high ratings are 2+ years old. Unhook has a symbiotic relationship with "Improve YouTube!" -- both are broken as of 2026 without the other. Features breaking with every new YT and FF update,eg, Endcards no longer hide. Feels like the end of an era of peak YouTube extensions

- Rated 1 out of 5by Christopher, a month agoThis extension partially stopped working in November 2025. After researching alternatives, I believe that the following one is the most up to date and fully featured: "RYS — Remove YouTube Suggestions"

- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 16824237, a month ago"Hide end screen feed" feature doesn't work quite well - it only hides part of the feed.
Checked both on Firefox and Chrome, and even disabled all Chrome extensions but Unhook, restarted Chrome, nothing changed. It needs an update, I guess. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19726797, a month ago

- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 14520466, 2 months agoThis would be a great add-on if the developers made sure it's consistently up to date. I've been having issues with embedded YouTube videos for months now, on both Firefox and Chrome. It just doesn't work as it should, causing embedded youtube videos not to play at all. Can also produce flickering that can be very annoying, and may potentially trigger seazures in people with epilepsy.
