This add-on seems to work (Firefox-ESR 140) but no longer be maintained:

- GitLab allows to create a free account, but you must give a bank account (but yeah, trust'em, it's free 😏) and a phone number. A no-solution for me.
- An e-mail sent to "rules.support (at) clearurls.xyz" gets a response "A message that you sent has not yet been delivered to one or more of its recipients after more than 72 hours". Let's try elsewhere, there must be a solution.
- On the homepage (clearurls.xyz)
- "Last update: February 5, 2025"
- No contact page linked. No site map to find where it can be.

Nope, I've run out of solutions.

So basically, good in the current state of the web (2025~6) but as more time passes, the worse this add-on will be.

Honestly, it just really, really needs a basic site whitelist option. Sometimes you don't mind the things this targets because they are actually necessary for functionality. Good example: When I go to my health insurance web portal, a different company handles the online payment. When I click to pay on web portal, it opens their website, and uses a lot of things ClearURLs auto-cleans to tell that payment site who I am without me needing to explicitly log in, and in fact doesn't have a normal log in method for said site, so I have to turn of ClearURLs... to pay online for my health insurance.

This is far from the only situation I've ran into with this.

It hasn't worked properly with Google since the FireFox update. A tracking link will be created in Google search results. Use Don't Track Me Google.

Works ok, but it also breaks AI Overview in Google Search.

In general I really like this addon, but it caused a memory leak that would eventually use all of my memory and would cause my computer to go unresponsive. I tried disabling addons one by one, and my memory usage upon disabling this addon went from 40GB to around 7GB with many windows open. I'm sure I found some edge case here, but I've had to disable it for now.

Interferes heavily with google maps site on FF for Android. Website doesn't stop reloading.

The extension is causing the Google AI Mode to be unusable. I hope there will be an update!

It breaks google AI mode, so I have to remove it in search for better alternative. If you don't need google's AI features it could be great though.

Good addon but isn't updated frequently so bugs go without being addressed.

Works well for most URL trackers, like those in spotify and youtube links.
But we definitely need a one-time exception button. It breaks a lot of forwarding, for example when trying to log into Google Play Desktop app, it removes the ID used for the app login. I frequently need to disable this addon, which is very annoying and defeats the purpose

please please please make it possible to allow exceptions! google play books won't work when the extension is enabled which is really inconvenient for me

Sometimes breaks legitimate websites and there's no way to add an exception.

It's great until it's not. In my case a [var]=/[value] becomes [var]=%2F[value] and broke the website. Please consider, for the least, adding a whitelist function.

In theory a great extension, but it has a lot of open bugs, that make many websites pretty much unusable.
One example that I was affected is Github: github[.]com/ClearURLs/Addon/issues/410
It took me a while to figure out that ClearURLs was the root cause for my issues.

It has worked great,but lately as someone else has mentioned it causes my computer and the CPU to go crazy, several websites are affected, DuckDuckGo, Google, YouTube, Soundcloud and more. I spent days now trying to troubleshoot what was causing it (I have many extensions) and the moment I disabled this one, the cpu fans slowed down and my system is back to normal. Responsive and snappy.

Useful for many websites but it completely breaks google sheets search function. The search bar just doesn't appear with this on. Please add a method to whitelist specific domains.

Breaks Google Spreadsheet, with this addon enabled all charts from spreadsheet disappear. No way to whitelist spreadsheet domain so the only way is to disable the whole extension.

A great idea, but needs a way to define exclusions. Breaks desirable behaviour, for example, using Amazon wish lists.

Breaks Google Sheets pop-ups and probably some other (Google) pages too, see: reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1gggcsb/google_sheets/. Other than that it hasn't impeded my browsing, so it does seem to work.

Worked quite good until recently when some side menus in Google Docs stoped working entirely. The issue disappered as soon as I turned off this add-on when I was checking them one-by-one...

Works good for most site, but it would be nice if it also stripped tracking URL from AliExpress. Opera browser, can do this out of the box no addons. So it should be possible with an update to the plugin.
