ANY pages, not just the ones from the sites this extension accesses. i found out this extension was the culprit because it only did this when i had it enabled, without it pages loaded like normal.
i'm confused on why this happened cause i had this extension for months with no problems. it's a shame cause it's a great extension, but now when i have it enabled it takes ages to load anything :/Respuesta del desarrollador

We’ve fixed the issue in the next version and are still going through the Firefox release process.
