When trying to watch a Youtube video it will endlessly buffer if connected to certain counties, even though I have it and all subdomains excluded from the VPN connection. The video will load when connected to my home country, so something about the subdomain exclusion isn't working as intended.

publicado el hace 6 mesesThat doesn't sound right. Could you share more details about the issue? Which specific servers have you encountered this problem with? Are you using any other extensions for privacy/security purposes? Are your browser and the Proton VPN extension up-to-date?
ENG:
ProtonVPN runs flawlessly for me, without any interruptions or errors. General usage is very reliable.
The only drawback is a drastic drop in download/upload speed with some cloud applications, especially when transferring data in the GB range. While this problem can be solved by briefly disabling the VPN – this shouldn't be the goal of the product.
For my personal use case, this is acceptable, as I mainly use my own cloud solutions.Respuesta del desarrollador

I like Proton a lot. Why? Because Proton is just a amazing company in general. Their VPN is one of the best, and their free VPN is the best non-paid VPN in the market.
However, I've had some problems with their VPN extension. I have limited freedom, I cannot enable the kill switch, change my VPN protocol to something like Stealth (that was created by Proton) to bypass VPN blocks and censorship.
On a heavily restricted, locked down WiFi network (I'm talking Amazon.com, Github.com, DuckDuckGo.com are all blocked and much more), the VPN extension is blocked despite me being signed in and it working on a hotspot and other networks without restrictions. I've used the VPN app with Stealth and it's worked fine on the network, but the extension doesn't work.
I hope that this extension improves in the future and addresses this issue. Thank you Proton.Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 7 mesesThank you for your review. Some public networks (e.g. in schools, hotels, airports, workplaces, etc.) tend to apply restrictions in order to prevent harmful activities and keep track of the traffic flowing. That said, the browser extension uses HTTPS. This is the only connection protocol supported by modern browsers. With that in mind, if you cannot connect using the extension, we suggest using the native Proton VPN app with the Stealth protocol, which was designed for this specific purpose.
publicado el hace 7 mesesSorry to hear that. Would you mind sharing more details about the issue? Are you receiving any error messages? What type of internet connection are you using? Are you using any other extensions for privacy/security purposes? Contact us by clicking on Help in the Proton VPN extension, then selecting 'Contact us' so we can help you troubleshoot. - Se valoró con 4 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 19258106, hace 8 mesesThe extension looks the part but has usability issues that need managing manually.
The main usability issue is that if you're connected to a VPN server and the computer goes into sleep mode then later resumes, the connection isn't refreshed/handled properly, effectively blocking traffic until you manually disconnect/reconnect. Occasionally this issues causes the GUI to become unresponsive too, requiring the extension itself to be restarted.
There's also no feedback given on the connection quality/speed of the server you're currently connected to. If it starts to feel slow, it requires manually moving to another server; there's no automatic transfer to a better equivalent server within the same country.
Not a negative mark on the extension per se - but it's worth noting that there's a growing list of websites that will detect you using a VPN (likely through matching your IP against IPs known to belong to Proton/etc.), making VPN usage for 'general' anonymous browsing more and more frustrating.
Proton VPN itself works well and provides lots of protections and connection configuration; it's just the extension that has a few issues really.Respuesta del desarrollador
publicado el hace 8 mesesThank you for your review. Could you share more details about the connection issue? Are you able to consistently reproduce it? Which version of Firefox, as well as the Proton VPN extension do you have installed? What device are you experiencing this issue on exactly? Contact us by clicking on Help in the Proton VPN extension, then selecting 'Contact us' so we can help you troubleshoot.
On another note, some websites block known VPN IP addresses. Let us know which websites you're having trouble accessing, as well as the servers you're connected to in the process so we can help. Meanwhile, you can try switching between multiple different servers to see whether the behavior improves with some of them.
Lastly, we've documented your request regarding automatic reconnection to a faster server for future consideration. - Se valoró con 4 de 5por Usuario de Firefox 19214598, hace 8 mesesI need to reboot the extension whenever I switch wifi networks or else every few days. I routinely keep about:addons open so I can turn the extension off and on again. When I click the extension icon in the toolbar in this state, it just shows me a loading spinner. Besides this hiccup, the extension works great. (I am a subscriber.)

The extentions does not seem to be listed on Proton support pages, so not sure either where to report these issues or find forums to discuss issues.

publicado el hace un añoSorry to hear that. Proton VPN is currently officially supported on the latest stable versions of Debian, Ubuntu, and Fedora, using GNOME desktop environment. Moreover, the browser extension itself, it's not optimized for mobile devices at the moment. Nonetheless, we've passed on your feedback to the team for future improvements. - Se valoró con 4 de 5por Michael, hace un añoGostaria de um modo reverso no tunelamento dividido, pois preciso do VPN para apenas alguns sites.
Fora isso, muito bom.Respuesta del desarrollador

E.g. if I'm ok with revealing my ip to most of the sites I visit, or I already route all the home network traffic through a local Proton server, but I want to completely hide my location from selected few sites. For them I'd like Firefox to automatically route the connection through a secure-core network. Currently it is only available when you manually connect and disconnect the extension as needed, and I often forget to do so.
Otherwise, a very useful extension
