Two stars because while it does what it's supposed to (mostly), it has severe limitations for free users and - this is much worse - it can slow down various sites. YouTube especially.
It's gotten to the point where I keep the extension disabled until I need it.

A very reliable and convenient extension. I’ve been using it for the last few years. There was a time when videos from YouTube were downloaded with English audio tracks instead of the original ones, but the developer fixed it quickly. I’m very happy with the extension.

Downloading a companion app is required. Privacy policy nagging included. If your download requires "converting" you can either pay $28.50(USD) for a "converting license" or deal with a giant QR barcode in the video. Perfect example of a once great extension gone bad.

I have used VideoDownloader for many years on many Linux Distros, and have had very few failures. Usually my fault! You should use the 'co-app' which uses the latest versions of ffmpeg for better quality.
