mis en ligne : il y a 3 joursThanks for the feedback. We understand why the new permissions raised concerns.
Those permissions were only needed because of our old “email this page” feature, which we’ve now removed in a version that's being reviewed by Mozilla.
The upcoming update reduces the extension to just the permissions needed to create printer-friendly pages and PDFs.
We appreciate you taking the time to let us know your concerns.- Noté 1 sur 5par Eling, il y a 6 joursIn the latest version 6.9.8, the extension suddenly needs some new permissions:
"The developer says the extension will collect: browsing activity, personal communications, personally identifying information."
They don't even have anything to say in their changelog about this update (it's literally empty). This is very concerning. I'm disabling the extension and staying on the previous version 6.7.10 for the time being, while looking for alternative.Réponse du développeur
mis en ligne : il y a 4 joursThanks for raising this concern. You’re right that we should have explained the permission changes more clearly.
The alarming permission categories came entirely from one feature: Email this page, which needed access to pass along the recipient’s email address. We’ve removed that feature. PrintFriendly has never requested financial information, health data, your location, or login information.
We’re rebuilding the email feature in a more privacy-friendly way so the extension won’t need access to contacts or messages. We appreciate you calling this out, and your feedback helped us improve both the permissions and how we communicate changes. - Noté 1 sur 5par 1m8, il y a 6 joursAtrocious new permissions, full browser activity, identifying information, without scope, Financial and payment information. Examples: contact information like name and address, email and phone number, as well as other identifying data such as ID numbers, voice or video recordings, age, demographic information or biometric data. Examples: emails, text or chat messages, social media posts and data from phone calls and conference calls.

mis en ligne : il y a 6 joursThank you for raising this, and we want to be precise about it. PrintFriendly never requested financial or payment information, health data, your location, or login information. None of those were ever part of the extension.
The list showed four categories. The two with the alarming descriptions you quoted, identifying information and personal communications, came entirely from one feature: "email this page," which passed along a recipient's address to send the page. We've removed that feature. The extension now requests only what a print and PDF tool needs to do its job: the content of the page you're printing, and that page's address so our service can generate the PDF. It reads a page only when you click the button, it doesn't run in the background, and it doesn't track your browsing.
We're also rebuilding email in a more privacy-friendly way, with the sending handled on printfriendly.com so the extension never touches contacts or messages, and it'll be back soon. If you update to 6.9.9, once it's live (it's under review right now), you'll see the request reduced to those two essentials. We appreciate you holding us to a high bar here. - Noté 1 sur 5par crankyfranky, il y a 14 joursPerforms worse than the built in browser. Atrocious privacy policy. They collect IP, urls, and other data about you and they will sell your information. Not opensource. This add-on belongs only on the chrome webstore where proprietary software with spyware and adware behavior is not only expected but has been normalized.

mis en ligne : il y a 14 joursThanks for the feedback. We want to clarify that we do not sell users’ personal information. We understand that privacy is important, and we aim to be transparent about our data practices in our privacy policy.
We’re sorry to hear that PrintFriendly performed worse than your browser’s built-in printing features in your experience. We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective. - Noté 1 sur 5par Utilisateur ou utilisatrice 14609268 de Firefox, il y a 3 moisCompletely worthless. Save time and look elsewhere. Does not have any effect or control over images. You'd expect a nice simple toolbar button for Images ON/OFF. Nope, complicated interface which doesn't affect anything.

mis en ligne : il y a 5 moisThanks for your feedback. We do not require users to create an account to use the extension. There is an option to create one, but it is completely optional.

Completely broken, cannot even read webpages correctly. Mozilla really needs to clean up its extension marketplace.

Then there were timeout errors. Then there were sign-in procedures. Guess what? I don't want to contact your support team. I didn't want to install an add-on. I don't want to reinstall. I just wanted to save an article so I could read it later. But to do that, I had to jump through a bunch of hoops. Just forget it.

When it worked it was wonderful to have and did a good job of getting the page printed for formattingRéponse du développeur

I'd like to try to get this issue resolved for you. - Noté 1 sur 5par Utilisateur ou utilisatrice 17198077 de Firefox, il y a un anThis software is buggy. It takes several steps to generate a pdf. More often than not, it locks up, thinks that I am not human and refuses to print anything. This application requires a lot of technical fixes behind the scenes, and it needs a simpler, ONE STEP interface, not going through multiple screens to print a BNI podcast. Downloading the app did not help. The pages that show up are cluttered, and not as cleaned as they claim.

And it doesn't. It simply barfs every time.
- Noté 1 sur 5par ivYuki.ofc, il y a 2 ans2 years ago this addon was definitely great. But now it just makes a pdf, that's at least double the amount of pages, as printing direct from the browser..

- Noté 1 sur 5par Dr. Phoenix, il y a 3 ansNow it asks to accept or decline privacy, but the extension will only work by accepting everything because the formatting of that screen is obscenely wrong. I'll look for something else!

Tries to collect data for "partners", yes you can disable this, but the dialogue shows up only, if you disable NoScript for the tab (NoGo). - Noté 1 sur 5par Art Saldivar, il y a 3 ansUnable to download the web link as I’m in Firefox and app is unable to recognize I’m in Firefox. Frustrating!
- Noté 1 sur 5par Utilisateur ou utilisatrice 13478936 de Firefox, il y a 3 ansextension button in FF 15.0.2 does not work (there is simply no button)
- Noté 1 sur 5par Utilisateur ou utilisatrice 13538331 de Firefox, il y a 3 ansSince Uprgrade to Windows 11 some months ago, Print with System dialoge does not work any more with Print Friendly (Firefox). Although the problem has been reported immediately and there were several updates of Windows 11, Firefox and (presumably) Print Friendly, this problem has not been fixed. Supposedly Microsoft has changed the interface to "Pront with system dialogue" and Print Friendly has not been upgraded to support the change. I need that because I often do not want to print the whole but only some specific pages. Pages cannot be specified with Print Firendly directly. As a consequence, I have to print into PDF and select the pages wanted later. A lot of additional work.
