I installed it and am using it to replace a much better addon that is no longer updated. I only care about two features: changing the case of titles and replacing thumbnails with video frames.

I have a couple problems with DeArrow:

Similar to SponsorBlock, the crowdsourced nature of it makes it very unreliable. There are many cases of overly opinionated user submissions that conflict with the original material in one way or another.

There are settings to remove the crowdsource functionality and make it work the way I described above, but getting it to do that wasn't very easy and required some hoops to be jumped through.

The much bigger set of hoops is the process of getting to use the addon. You cannot use the addon for free, and the description is misleading.

To get access you need to first click a button to decline paying, then you need to apply for free access, you do not get free access immediately, so you have to start your short free trial. My trial expired before I was granted free access. I was very tempted to uninstall the plugin at every step of this way, and the experience means I will never donate.

I understand the desire to make money off this, but this attitude sucks when it actively and very successfully disrupts the usability of the tool. I am not recommending it to other people. Will drop it if I ever make my own addon to replace the old clickbait remover, or find an alternative.

Maybe this is petty and vindictive, but I'm so tired of all the bullshit and lack of groovy attitudes.

The goal is to make an add-on that anyone can use for free if they want to, instead of paywalling it. Anyone can request free access to use DeArrow for free, no questions asked, because I think that's the right thing to do.

At the same time, people buying DeArrow is how I pay my rent, so I appreciate anyone who chooses to do so.

    No activation button available, only trial for 6 hours. So every 6 hours i have to reactivate it, essentially replacing one annoyance with another.

    Yea, I'm never paying for this, would've considered it if it just flat out said it's a paid extension, which it is.

    Open source and community driven but give me money. Intresting concept, so the money you make, do you give it to people who actually keep this garabge running? Oh no you dont, because you totally did all of the work! Like no one else on this planet was willing to do it for free, just another cancer

    This extension has a soft-paywall, you can use it for free by clicking "I can't/don't want to pay"

    The code is released under the GPL license for anyone to use as see fit

    Just like with SponsorBlock, the entire database of submisisons is published at https://sponsor.ajay.app/database under a creative commons license

    One of the best YouTube extensions out there.
    It's up there with Sponsor block and UBlock Origin.
    It's very time saving, especially when browsing through your recommendations page (it makes your digest more productive.)
    Most of these big tech channel videos are frequently summarized into a small sentence.
    I've found it most useful for tech videos (as most custom titles lie here)
    The feature where it shows a random screenshot of the video in the thumbnail is amazing, it helps me preview videos that are obviously AI generated.
    I love this extension, and I suggest others to contribute to the project by:
    buying the product - it's only $1 !!!
    donating to the developer.
    source thumbnails and titles yourself to help expand the project!
    share it with your friends.

    the only problem I have with it, is that it isn't popular enough, making custom titles quite rare in normal feeds.

    The remove emojis feature is not working for me. There is an original title that isn't replaced and the emojis are there despite having the option checked.

    Genuinely improves my YouTube experience.

    Yesterday for some reason it stopped working and was making Firefox hang, so I disabled it. I forgot I did that and was wondering why YouTube suddenly felt a lot more click-bait-y than usual.

    I love that thumbnails actually represent how the video looks, and that I no longer see video titles that tell me absolutely nothing about the video.

    My $1 has been well worth it.

    I don't understand installing it and subsequently leaving a negative review for the fact that it does what it says, or for the $1 dollar payment that you *don't have to pay.* That said, this is often broken and may not always be as useful as you'd think (people like to inject their opinions into the new titles for example; this is often fixed eventually but it's kinda irritating when bad titles stay up). You can just go through the settings to limit or remove title changes, though.

    If it's still not working for you, try making sure it's not asking for extra permissions. You can go to about:addons, and click the gear icon and click "Check for updates". If there is a popup in the top right asking for permissions to access dearrow.ajay.app (the DeArrow homepage), click "Update"

    Great extension, can't imagine my life without it now.

    But just yesterday it stopped working. First the button to show original video title and thumbnail disappeared and now all titles and thumbnails are original clickbaity ones. Changing any settings in the extension or restarting it doesn't help sadly :(

    Hi, this was fixed in version 2.3.4 which has now been reviewed by Mozilla so you should be able to just update

    Edit: they made another change, it's fixed in 2.3.4. If you don't want to wait for Mozilla to review it, you can install the beta by clicking "FirefoxSignedInstaller" on https://github.com/ajayyy/DeArrow/releases/tag/2.3.5
