Just use v9.0.1 and the add-on works again as it should. The dictionaries are included, that why it's about 15MB. Or we could simply edit the xpi (which is a ZIP) to fix the latest version. ;)

Jeez, forcing a premium subscription to use the extension. I switched over to this from grammarly because it became AI slop filled, but now this extension has done the same and is removing the free tier because of it. AI is expensive, harms the environment, and generally isn't worth the costs. Remove the AI features and return the free tier, you'll get way more users by doing that.

Used to be good, considering the free tier. Now only for premium subscribers. The developers should explicitly state this information upfront in the first lines of the extension description, allowing users to avoid spending time installing it and then uninstalling it a couple of minutes later.

Now asking for money for something which can be obtained for free or lower cost. Just because you dump in "AI" features that no-one asks for you can't then to try and use this to justify a "premium" price.

Used to be free for a long time, but has started asking for a premium subscription just to use it at all. I'm disabled and was using it to spell check but I can't afford this. I guess its back to mixed up words now if I'm not having a very efficient day with fighting it.

They got rid of their free tier, forcing users to pay for features they clearly do not want to use (and it's obvious they know this, because they're advertising it as an upgrade to premium, despite the fact that the cost of running premium is why they're doing this), just because those features were too expensive for the people who actually want to use them.

Was good until it ask to pay to work (unless you want an extension that just say "use premium to use extension", so not "Some features may require payment" ...

Useless, doesnt do anything unless you pay for a premium subscription. For a simple spell checker thats terrible. It was awesome for the first week, before I realised I was using a free tiral for the premium version. All this did was highlight how well a simple spell checker can work, but with zero basic features its entirely useless. Im not signing up to a subscription for a simple spell checker.

Now they want $70 a year to do the same thing

I used this tool for several months and and had a good experience with it for a long time, however, the recent changes make it unusable as an extension without paying.

Prior to this, I would have given it a 5-star rating, and should have, but I cannot currently do so given the price.

I wish for the best and hope that it does well, though I will personally not continue using it for the foreseeable future, even if I understand the reasoning behind the changes. If you are willing to pay for its services however, it is very high quality and I experienced few, if any issues with it.

GREEDY EXTENSION. NOW ASKS FOR MONEY JUST FOR USE IT.

It worked badly, contains lot of misspells, and recently developers just removed free usage. It was 3 of 5 early, now worse then 1/5

This extension established itself at a time when there were few alternatives, giving it a firm market share in its category. But now, when there are a bunch of alternatives to choose from, you decide to put every single feature behind a paywall?

You deserve to make some money out of your work but damn, that is a wild decision.

It was good, but I often had issues with the extension. It was full of bugs. Recently, after accepting changes, it stopped replacing the original text correctly and would basically concatenate the old text with the corrected version.

Now they want to start charging for usage, which is fine— I get it. But at least make the product reliable before asking people to pay for it.
