Today 50 of me tabs got blocked; I could only remember about ten off the top of me head – the rest are gone for good. That’s why I’m chuckin’ it today; the risk’s way too high. A couple of times a year somethin’ goes pear-shaped, so I gotta switch the add-on off. I’ve had a bloody gutful now!

I googled to look how to unblock everything with one click and did everything, even checked for database updates and nothing worked ... everything is still blocked .. had to manually unblock everything .. thank you very much for this work. Something that blocks everything out of the blue is the last thing someone wants.

I don't know what idiot authorized this latest update but it's completely broken web browsing. Github wont load the landing page properly and it's just a bunch of text on the left side of the screen and several websites I frequent are being blocked now as "scam" sites, when they arent. In fact I can't get "scammed" anyways because I have an ad-blocker. Roll it back, undo this disaster.

Can you share please at help.malwarebytes.com? - Wurdearring: 1 fan 5troch Goofy3696, 24 dagen lynI know that the company Malwarebytes has been around for quite some time and that the company name is a play on words. What I am going to say that the product(s) this company produces,as a whole, "BITES!!" I am running Windows 10-Pro 64-bit. From the website filehippo.com. I downloaded the trial of their software. Well, that was quickly uninstalled when it was detecting regular software as PUPs and putting them into quarantine. Not only that it was causing my PC to become unstable. After doing a total uninstall and removing any leftovers in the Registry, my PC returned to normal This is when I found their browser extension. After the extension started causing Firefox to become as steady as a one-legged man walking a tightrope, I understood why there is a warning at the top of the download page that reads as follows. "This add-on is not actively monitored for security by Mozilla." I was getting errors that I NEVER received prior to installing the extension. This extension stopped me from accessing my GMAIL, eBay, Amazon, and Walmart accounts on more than one occasion. While surfing those sites, I will get the pop-up window stating that the website could be harmful. Webpages would not fully load, or if they did load, it was only the text and not the interactive HTML. Lastly, it would make the browser act like it was running at dial-up speeds. Well, guess what. Just like with my installing the software for my PC, uninstalling the extension from my Firefox browser, it returned it to normal. There are other products out there that do the same thing, if not better and will not give you migraines while using them.

This block has been resolved, keep an eye out for v3.3.5 which has improvements to our Tracking Attempt block feature. - Wurdearring: 1 fan 5troch Gianfranco, 4 moannen lynBroken cookie banners on multiple sites.
I wanted to report that this extension causes cookie banners to malfunction on various websites. The banners disappear after just a few seconds, without giving users enough time to manage their consent. I am experiencing this major issue also on my own WordPress site, which uses the Cookie Complianz plugin.
Since these banners are configured to automatically reject cookies when closed (keeping them disabled until explicit user consent), certain website functionalities break entirely. The only workaround is to disable the extension's ad/tracker protection, which the vast majority of users obviously won't do.
UPDATE - Reply to your answer:
Thanks for the reply, but there is a misunderstanding here.
I am using Complianz, not CookieYes (the link provided in your response belongs to a different plugin).
Complianz is strictly configured for prior consent (opt-in). This means that if Malwarebytes blocks cookieblocker.min.css, it doesn't cause trackers to load; instead, it completely breaks the banner layout.
The real issue is that the user is physically prevented from interacting with the banner because it vanishes immediately. If a user actually wants to consent to load a YouTube video, a Google Map, or a social widget, they simply cannot do it because the interface is broken by the extension.
This is a False Positive purely based on the filename string. Please consider forwarding this to the development team so they can whitelist or fix this specific filter. Thank you.Antwurd ûntwikkeler
4 moannen lyn pleatstThanks for your report!
If users want, they can turn this setting off anytime for a specific page from Browser Guard's dashboard.
A quick heads-up: When someone uses Malwarebytes or another ad blocker, their consent is automatically denied. In those cases, your site should only use the essential cookies needed to keep things running smoothly.
Avoid blocking features for users with ad blockers — that could cause GDPR issues.
If you want to learn more, check out the Cookieyes knowledge base (https://www.cookieyes.com/knowledge-base/cookie-consent/what-is-cookie-auto-blocking/) or have a quick chat with your legal team. - Wurdearring: 1 fan 5troch Drafer, 5 moannen lyn

It broke the functionality of Firefox Browser's right click, "Save Image as", feature. Malwarebytes pushed version 3.1.5 on me on the 9th April 2026, around two weeks after version 3.1.5 was released.
The absolute same day they had to bring out version 3.1.6 to fix the disaster of version 3.1.5. And what version 3.1.6 is according to Firefox is an, "Automatic rollback based on version [3.1.3]."
Sort yourself out Malwarebytes team, clearly better tech staff and Senior management are needed. - Wurdearring: 1 fan 5troch vhm, 7 moannen lynEvery time you open a Google page (which is unfortunately needed for my work) with this extension, things pop up on screen trying to verify my Google account. It won't even let me log on websites with my google account anymore. Malwarebytes is a good malware protection with good plans for everyone, but this extension is simply a bad tradeoff between protection and basic daily usability. Until it updates to give user more settings and control over the extension I can't recommend it to anyone.

We'd be curious to know what websites you see it on, and the notification you are getting from Browser Guard.
Maybe related, but there are aggressive anti-adblockers that pop-up notifications that say Browser Guard is creating an issue (because they want to show you ads). These aren't from us.
There's more info here https://help.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/articles/41695202334747-Website-asks-to-turn-off-Browser-Guard. - Wurdearring: 1 fan 5troch Geo WW, 10 moannen lynI would prefer to give this 0 stars, but I guess it does deserve ONE because it has detected and stopped a few redirects that were legitimately pages I would not want to go to, and caught some fake sites that were sponsored pages in Google search.
That said, it uses way too much memory for this kind of browser extension, which I could forgive considering that I have plenty of RAM, but where I draw the line is the absolutely irritating pop-ups FROM the extension itself!
If I'm using an add-on that is supposed to do things like block ads, why on earth am I constantly getting them from the add-on I'm using to block them?
Why is it EVERY day, when I go to use Firefox, I have to see some annoying ad telling me how many things the Malwarebytes Browser Guard blocked? Like you need to sell me the extension I already have installed on my computer!
And worse, there's NO WAY to turn them off! Go through the settings and there's no setting to control the extension notifications, so I have no choice but to see them, which while that's bad enough, even worse is they never want to close! Sometimes clicking on the X won't even close it, so I end up either refreshing the page or having to duplicate the tab and close the one I'm on because a ridiculous pop-up from my pop-up blocker won't go away!
Now, sometimes I'm getting multiple of them! Like I finally get it to close and there's another one, I just got two pop-ups from Malwarebytes Browser Guard in a ROW!
I've finally had it, I'm uninstalling this thing because I'm sick of it. I didn't install a pop-up blocker so that I could have to constantly have unclosable pop-ups from the blocker, that is absolutely absurd and crosses a line for me.
A good browser guard would just have the icon for it maybe have a number over it or a quiet tick when it blocks something, and that's it. Whoever decided there should be pop-ups for the browser guard I already have installed should not have that job. Show me discretely that you block stuff, I don't actually care how much stuff you've blocked for everyone in the world every day, like not even a little bit, as in there is no reasonable way I could possibly care less, so I don't want this information, and should not be forced to see it constantly.
I would never recommend this to anyone as it is unreasonable that the extension itself spams the exact thing I got the extension to stop.
Note: After posting this review and uninstalling the plugin, the exact page I was on and had just closed all the pop-ups, had another Malwarebytes Guard Popup telling me how many things Malwarebytes Guard removed in the past 30 days (in general for everyone, nothing to do with me). It actually happens all the time when I move between tabs, often forcing me to try and close the thing dozens and dozens of times every day. I'm so glad I uninstalled this thing, I despise it, and I will never install it again. At this point I don't even care if there is some way to disable this somewhere (not that I could find one), I'm beyond irritated that this is actually the default behavior. Malwarebytes (even the AV) used to be such a lean and non-intrusive application. Now, it's basically junkware, like the garbage bloatware I used to charge people to remove from their new computers. I've seriously gone from being a loyal Malwarebytes fan that has recommended and installed this software for thousands of customers, to someone who really can't stand it. I don't know why they have ruined what used to be hands down the best anti-malware software in the world, but it is an unfortunate loss.
If you need a extension to stop pop-up ads, scams, etc., I would suggest looking elsewhere, this thing is exactly what you're probably trying to stop when you install it.Antwurd ûntwikkeler
10 moannen lyn pleatstThank you for the details, I definitely understand your frustration.
It sounds like there is a bug, notifications are either to notify you of a blocked item (reactive), once every release to notify you of any changes (once or twice a month), and once a month to give you your protection stats.
It sounds like you are getting the protection stats notification multiple times a day and on different tabs; this is absolutely unintentional and indeed very aggravating.
I know it's a long shot, but if there is anyway you could share your logs with us at support.malwarebytes.com, we can stamp out that bug.
I understand you're not interested but just reference for anyone else, all notifications in Browser Guard can be controlled on the Settings page. Sounds like we need to do better in exposing that.
