Thank you for your report. Researching this now, no one has found a new compose link that works since May 2023. I will withdraw this extension. If you hear of a solution, I can work on an update.

As for what it does, I don't think it was an option to add a new mailto protocol when I wrote this back in 2018, or it didn't work that way.
