I was extremely disappointed when I opened my Firefox on mobile today only to find that my video background play fix addon no longer works because they no longer support Android. Why is this? This was the only reason I used Firefox on my mobile. Looks like I am looking for a workaround for this one.

It's already installable again on Nightly, although unfortunately this issue (https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/9691) in Firefox needs fixing as well, so Beta and Release Firefox users might have to wait a little longer. (Any workarounds would unfortunately run into the same Firefox bug, so wouldn't really help either)

    28.07.2026 roku zainstalowałem ten plugin na mobilnej wersji Firefox ver 153.0 na systemie Android 15 i działa ta funkcja odtwarzania video w tle, również w kartach prywatnych - z powodzeniem mogę wyłączyć ekran lub przejść do innej aplikacji i dalej słuchać muzyki, podcastu, vloga itp. Działają też tak shorty. Plugin całkowicie bezobsługowy, zero konfiguracji, zainstalowałem, odświezyłem na wszelki wypadek oglądaną stronę www i sam zaczął działać zgodnie z oczekiwaniami.

    Czytałem tutaj, że ponoć od jakiegoś czasu w 2026 roku przestało to funkcjonować - u mnie działa więc nie umiem się do tego odnieść.

    On July 28, 2026, I installed this plugin on the mobile version of Firefox version 153.0 on Android 15, and the background video playback feature works, even in private tabs. I can successfully turn off the screen or switch to another app and continue listening to music, podcasts, vlogs, etc. YouTube Shorts also work this way. The plugin is completely maintenance-free, with no configuration required. I installed it, refreshed the website I was viewing just in case, and it started working as expected.

    I read here that this supposedly stopped working some time in 2026 – it works for me, so I can't comment on that.

    June 2026, been waiting way too long for FF to fix this... Thanks so much this addon perfectly did. and i can again listen music from youtube while doing whatever else on my phone. Very very happy, congrats !!
