This is ridiculous. Now I’m forced to install an add-on in order to use AVG Anti-Track. If I don’t do this, I get a pop-up screen from AVG Anti-Track every time I turn on my PC.

After installing this add-on, you’re met with a pop-up screen that states they respect our privacy, but you’re forced to select one of two options in which they collect your data. You can’t opt out of this. You’re given two options you can select and two buttons at the bottom. One button says you agree to their terms, and the other says “Cancel and remove extension.”

You either agree to some personal data being shared or a more rigorous option in which they collect more data. If you don’t agree to one of these terms, the only option they give you is to remove the extension. And then you have to deal with AVG Anti-Track popping up every time you turn on your PC.

It’s quite funny. You release a program that does something about tracking, and yet AVG wants to track your data. It also defeats the whole claim that they respect our privacy. If they respected our privacy, they would allow us to opt out of the data collection.

For now, I’ve decided to remove the extension and also AVG Anti-Track. I don’t want to share my data, and I don’t want AVG Anti-Track popping up every time I turn on my PC. I’m actually so mad about this that I’ll probably remove AVG Ultimate altogether and switch over to a product that will respect my privacy.
