Looks pretty good, but could we have some basic instructions, please, if possible in English. For example, I ran it, it listed a vast number of bookmarks, and then stopped - what do I do next? There's a box marked Broken Bookmarks with an arrow pointing down and next to it a box marked Check Bookmarks -which one do I go for? Thank you.

Actually a really interesting and useful extension.

I generally keep my bookmarks in order, with numbered and named folders, and corresponding sub directory folders. I thought that was it.

This extension is briliant. It found a few broken links, but many updated ones (e.g. my university switched from bolton.ac.uk to greatermanchester.ac.uk - it found and prompted me to update.

I tried to run this while in a private windows and it obviously didn't use the private windows and instead run the check in normal windows. As a results my cookies & caches are populated by thousands of cookies & data from old sites in my bookmarks. This is a major fail. I want to clean my bookmarks, not to leave footsteps all over.

After over 20 years or so bookmarks sometimes get useless. I used this just now to find and remove all of them that are no longer active. Worked a treat. No idea about the other stuff but.

The broken bookmarks flagged bookmarks that were still valid. I could find nothing wrong with the bookmarks it marked. At first I was deleting them, then I saw bookmarks that I knew for sure existed. After testing about 20+ , I realized this was failing horribly.

Ersteinmal herzlichen Dank für dieses Addon. Zwar hilft es mir (noch nicht) es ist für Einzellfälle aber schon nett.

Falls es noch weiterentwickelt wird, irgendwann, hätte ich einen Wunsch für neue Funktionen.

Problemstellung:
Ich nutze mein Firefox sicher schon seit mindestens 10 Jahren, oder mehr. 25 Profile, viele Tabs, viele Lesezeichen. Teils tausende, zumindest viele hunderte.

Durch die Syncronisationsfunktion von Firefox, haben die Lesezeichen sich vervielfacht, das diese oft einfach in neue Ordner abgelegt wurden.

Es haben sich bei mir jetzt grob 13 000 (!!!) Lesezeichen angesammelt. Es ist unmöglich dies Manuell zu löschen oder zu untersuchen.

Eine erweitere Such, sortier und AUswahlfunktoin wäre echt ideal.

Als Funktonsbeispiel wäre hier die Dateiauswahl beim Programm "AllDup" zu nennen.

Hier kann werden auch alle Mehrfacheinträge aufgelistet wie bei diesem Addon, die Auswahl kann aber durch einen Menüeintrag nach unterschiedlichen Kriterien statt finden. So könen einerseit bestimmte Verzeichnisse ausgeschlossen werden (da wird gar nicht gelöscht, Quasi Hauptverzeichnis) und ansonsten wird nach Schema gelöscht. Meist als Auswahl ein bestimmter weitere "Hauptverzeichnissstamm". So kann man beim Suchen auch zwei "Verzeichnisse" auswählen die untersucht werden (mit Unterverzeichnissen) und schon kann man super einfach 100 000 doppelte Dateien finden.

Außerdem kann man auswählen, ob nach Dateiinhalt, oder Dateinamen oder beitem doppelte Einträge gefunden wernden.

Hier als Addon wäre es ideal nach URL und / oder Bezeichnus den Vergleich auszuführen. So will ich teils nur die doppelten URLs ausfiltern, welche auch gleiche Bezeichnungen haben. Da manche Bezeichnunge doppelt vorkommen müssen, als Erinnerung an "Benutzernamen" oder so.

Wenn hier noch ein wenig in Richtung "AllDup" funktionen eingebaut werden könnte, könnte dies geradee in Produktiven Umgebungen wahnsinnig helfen.

Ansonsten, ich war überrascht, das dies Addon so super schnell arbeitet und optisch sehr aufgeräumt wirkt. Sehr angenehm.

Macht was es soll - aber die gefundenen defekten Bookmarks sollten einzeln geprüft werden (ggf. sind Seiten temporär nicht erreichbar oder sehr langsam --> dann kann das zu false - positive führen)

Unfortunately, this extension results in an extremely high percentage of false-positives, so at the least, you absolutely should not use it to delete the bookmarks it marks as errors. I copied the results to a Word file, excluding the 1614 warnings, which seemed to be mostly bookmarks with a URL starting with HTTP instead of HTTPS (they work, with your Web browser automatically changing it to HTTPS). Bookmarks Organizer found 246 “errors” out of 3087 bookmarks. I checked 10 of them. Two of them were indeed dead links. The others turned out to be websites that are now HTTPS instead of HTTP, and (as I noted above) the browser links to the correct address. I think that renders this extension useless. I liked the idea of cleaning up my bookmarks, but it’s really not a big deal. They’re not causing any harm. I can live with the mess more readily than I can erroneously deleting good bookmarks.

I have many bookmarks (20K+), and this add-on seems to have difficulty with processing these many bookmarks. Just on load, it seems to load all bookmarks, which slows down the browser, and even after closing the extension page. I have no choice but to disable it.

Within seconds of use I am already a fan of this extension; Super useful and saved me writing an equivalent myself. Excellent work, Sören, keep it up!

This is a great extension! I use multiple web browsers and this makes it simple to compile all of my bookmarks without having to go and delete the duplicates manually. Much appreciation to the developer!
