- It worked well for a little while but has become a veritable resource hog on my system. I work with a big amount of tabs and workspace. I take advantage of Firefox sleeping tabs to organize everything with a minimum impact on my system.
The problem is every single time I try to activate this add-on, I've notice a huge spike of ram usage for no reason at all. I'm talking about my ram consumption going from 4GB (due to the amount of tabs I work with) up to a total of more than 16GB the moment this add-on goes on. Making the browser totally unusable.
This not normal. After trouble shooting all add-ons I've been using until now, the culprit was PhotoShow. The moment I disabled PhotoShow, everything went back to normal.
While this add-on has really useful features, at it's current state, I cannot recommend it at all until this problem is looked into.

Ver. 4.89.2 seems not cause any issue. I will continue to monitor it on my end to see how it goes while keeping an eye on the future patchnote. Hopefully a futur fix will solve my issue. I will change my rating in the future once it's done.
Thank you.

30 July Edit:
I use Sideberry extension to monitor, arrange my tabs per workspace and sub groups and force sleep my tabs automatically and manually.
It depends on which space I work with. it can range from 20 tabs up to 100+ per workspace depending on my workload. As I come back often to those tabs or need them later, I put them on sleep very often rather than using bookmarks which is highly unpractical for my workflow.
Else, my browser is often ranging, in total, from 300 up to 1000 tabs. I'm probably a niche user and I do know that, but, I can't deal with my use case differently.
By "activating this addon" I meant, enabling it. Within firefox add-on tab.
The photoshow version I was using when it happened was the latest one I believe? My add-on were on auto update mode until I've downgraded to 4.89.2 recently and the issue has been ongoing and noticed for the past 2~3 weeks.
I did try to use Photoshow as well without any other 3rd party add-on running but the issue was still present. The moment I disabled it, it was back to normal.
Working with a big amount of sleeping tabs is not an issue for me most of time as my system is the following : Ryzen 9 7950x3D / Asus RTX 5080 / 64 Go DDR5 6800Mz開発者の返信
投稿日時: 21日前Hi, thank you for reaching out and for taking the time to report this issue with such detailed information.
This scenario will be investigated further to see what might be causing the excessive memory usage and whether improvements can be made.
In the meantime, you may consider temporarily downgrading to PhotoShow 4.89.2 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photoshow/versions/). It has more limited support for subframes and does not include some of the latest features, but it should also have lower memory usage.
Further updates on the investigation will be posted here. Thanks again for the report, and cheers!

Hi, just a quick update. Some investigation has been done into the reported memory usage issue, however, further information is needed to reproduce it. If possible, could you provide a bit more details? Specifically,
- When you mentioned "Firefox sleeping tabs", were you referring to Firefox's built-in "Unload Tab" feature, or a third-party extension or application?
- Roughly how many tabs did you have open in total, including inactive or sleeping ones?
- When you said "activate this add-on", what exactly did that mean? For example, was it enabling PhotoShow from Firefox's Add-ons Manager, or performing some other action?
- What's your PhotoShow version when you had this issue?
If it's more convenient, feel free to share these details via GitHub, the PhotoShow Discord community, or email, where they can be followed up more easily if additional information is needed.
Thanks again for taking the time to report the issue and help improve PhotoShow!

Hi, just a quick update: PhotoShow 4.91.0 has now been released with several performance improvements, some of which could potentially help with the memory usage you're experiencing. You're very welcome to give the new version a try and see if it makes a difference.
Given your particular use case with a very large number of tabs and windows, if the performance issue still persists, there is also a new "Performance Optimizations" section under PhotoShow Options page → Utilities.
In particular, you can enable "Skip embedded page content (e.g., iframes)" to further reduce PhotoShow's resource usage. This disables the most resource-intensive functionality introduced after version 4.89.2, so it may be especially helpful in your case.
After updating PhotoShow or changing these settings, restarting Firefox is also recommended to ensure the updated extension and configuration take effect as expected.
Thanks again for taking the time to provide such detailed information and help investigate the issue. Please feel free to let me know how 4.91.0 performs with your setup.

投稿日時: 6年前Thank you for your review. However, I didn't fully understand what problems you had encountered with PhotoShow from this short description. If you could explain it with more detail, I might have ways to offer help. Thank you. - 5 段階中 2 の評価Firefox ユーザー 13404543 によるレビュー (7年前)It's great sometimes, but more often than not, it just displays a popup of the same small image. It'd be great if it actually enlarged or zoomed the image.
