I love the service, but the extension is incredibly unreliable. Any time I try to set up a new connection, the entire browser locks up for tens of seconds. The connection drops off occasionally, to which the only fix is to disable then enable the extension, then wait for the browser to be responsive again.

That doesn’t sound right. Are you receiving any error messages? What type of internet connection are you using? Are you using any other extensions for privacy/security purposes? Do you have any antivirus or firewall app installed? Contact us at https://protonvpn.com/support/contact so we can help you troubleshoot. Meanwhile, try reinstalling the extension to see if there's any improvement.
