Does the basic job well enough, a few pain points though:
- Settings in extension reset after every update
- No option to set default password generation type (I prefer phrases for example)
- I have a fake credit card I use for dev testing but it always confirms before filling on localhost since it's http
- The field popup really interferes with the browser field autofill
- Unsure if this is 1password site or extension but it always is painful to remember where edit and save are

Thank you kindly for the review and feedback here! There are a few things that might make your experience better though:
- The settings of the extension will reset if your Firefox is set to never remember history or clear the cache when you quit the browser, so you can adjust Firefox’s settings accordingly to allow 1Password X to retain its settings.
- The suggested passwords recipe is not changeable, but you can use the fully-fledged password generator in 1Password X instead of these suggested passwords. Simply open 1Password X on the top right corner of the browser, click the big PLUS icon to reveal the menu and select “Password Generator”. There you can fully control the passwords you generate.
- Autofilling credit cards and identities will always trigger a “confirm” prompt, that is a security measure we’ve added recently and has nothing to do with http or your local dev environment.
- You can disable 1Password X’s inline menu from showing up in fields if you’d like to. In 1Password X’s settings, under the “Autofill” section, you can disable the suggestions and inline menu.
- When you edit an item, it opens our web app. The edit button is in 1Password X’s popup, but the “Save” button is on the bottom of the tab that opens. Thanks for the feedback here, we’re hoping to improve this in the future!

The most serious issue is that it does not work properly with HTTP Basic Authentication pop-up login windows. In Firefox, I often have to click multiple times and even navigate back in the browser before eventually receiving a different error message, after which the login may finally work. This issue does not occur in Google Chrome.
This has been going on for months. I pay for an expensive subscription, but I do not expect to renew it unless this problem is properly resolved. For my work, I use a very large number of HTTP Basic Authentication links with login pop-ups, and this simply has to function correctly. At the moment, I am forced to click repeatedly or switch to Google Chrome just to get basic functionality.
Support from 1Password has also been extremely slow. It often takes several days to receive a response, which is very disappointing.
My subscription runs until November 2026, but I am already considering alternatives. That is unfortunate, because 1Password does many things very well. However, when it comes to Firefox, the overall experience has been a major disappointment. Judging by the large number of negative comments here, I am clearly not the only one experiencing this.
Sidenote: also the 1Password application for Android phone has issues; it reports 9 out of 10 times, that it has no connection, so all passwords I am adding, do not show up on my desktop. #fail #1password - 5점 만점에 1점Firefox 사용자 19822537 님, 4달 전The plugin is significantly slowing my browser, tested my suspicions on a browser benchmark site and speed score went from 8 with the plugin on and 30 with it disabled (nothing else changed)
- Crap application, intrusive, pop ups all the time. Obscure ways to configure, tries to be "intelligent" but of course is not and then hides its internal "guessed" configuration, much less flexible and customizable than Keepass.
When imposed by companies, have to use it, else avoid like hell ! (and do not use it for personal side, your data is on a cloud and a company which is not trustable !) - 5점 만점에 1점Firefox 사용자 5951631 님, 5달 전If you already have 1password account, that has some kind of order, this extension will ruin the order you created by duplicating records you created with records called "Sign in" or something.

- Nul. Insupportable. Désinstallé direct.
- I've used this for years with no problems, but recently (within the last few months) it's been hyper-aggressive with the pop-up prompts - even when not signed in. Click out of it and immediately it comes back when you focus on the next field on the same page. It's gotten so bad I've had to disable the extension until the time i actually need it, and then once i'm done i have to disable it again. Not sure what the heck they changed on the back end but it needs to stop.
