The "stall" thing: TBH I doubt that it's directly caused by something I messed up. It might simply have to do with the fact that the video is playing faster. YouTube buffers only a few seconds of video and if those few seconds are silence then we skip it and then it immediately starts buffering again. So, not much we can do here.
Regarding the hard locked PC: honestly, I also doubt that this has to do with this extension. At worst it would make your *browser* hang. If things go beyond that, then there is something wrong with the OS.
Of course the extension has to consume some processing power and might slow things down a bit on less powerful PCs, but that's inevitable. I try to take performance seriously and not do any crazy stuff.
