Spopupfy - Spotify mini player에 대한 리뷰

As of 2026 it works okay. Although I can't tell if the buttons are working (shuffle, loop), as they stay grayed out upon clicking. When I tested it, I clicked shuffle, and it stayed stuck on smart shuffle -- I had to quit the miniplayer to remedy this.
There is one peculiar problem I'd like to report: to pop up the miniplayer window, the Spotify tab is closed. This can conflict with other extensions: for example, if you have another extension that, say, deletes cookies upon tab closure, the cookies are cleaned and you're logged out of Spotify, which freezes the miniplayer. So, to get it working, I have either to leave a second tab open or to graylist spotify.com.
As I am using Linux, miniplayer persistently pops up center screen. I can configure window settings to amend this as well.
It's simple, effective, and seems to work just fine in a less enhanced setup. I would recommend, with caveats.

2달 전에 게시됨Hi there, thanks for reporting these! I don't spend much time in front of my own computer anymore, and don't use this extension as much, so it takes me a while to notice changes on Spotify's front-end. I'll try to see if I can fix the buttons active status when I get the chance.
What "poping out" the window does, is creating a new window, then moving the tab to it. This sounds more like a bug on your other extension, as the tab shouldn't be considered as closed.
One thing to note, if you just resize the popup window large enough, you should be back to the normal interface.
The popup not remembering size and position on Linux is unfortunately a problem with Wayland, as far as I know. It can be remediated with KWin settings if using KDE, with mixed results. (You can also use that to make it stay always on top, which is neat)

Being able to use the keyboard to navigate to previous or next songs is really nice.
I appreciate the developer.
By the way, if the developer is reading this, could you explain why you named it "Spopupfy"?개발자 답글
일 년 전에 게시됨Hi there, thanks for the kind words!
As for the name, it's pretty silly-sounding, but it's just a combination of "Spotify" and "pop-up [window]".
Also, the keyboard feature is just provided by Firefox, I can't take credit for it! - 5점 만점에 5점Firefox 사용자 14227961 님, 2년 전It is perfect!! all I wanted to control Web Spotify. I recommend to combine with PowerToys > Always on Top, is a bliss <3
- 5점 만점에 5점Firefox 사용자 17926172 님, 3년 전works. best solution for free lightweight spotify on linux <3, dont know if this is possible to fix but the player could have an always on top toggle so that we can use media keys for background use when using the entire screen.

It was the initial plan, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to toggle always-on-top from within Firefox.
I'm fairly certain you can achieve this easily in Linux, but not sure if it would help with media keys if it isn't the active window. The media keys work globally for Firefox on windows since a year or two ago, however. 개발자 답글

If you mean the window not always staying on top, it's something that seems impossible with a Firefox add-on at the moment, unfortunately. This add-on is most useful for people with a large monitor, where the main Firefox window isn't taking up the entire screen.- 5점 만점에 5점Firefox 사용자 15304775 님, 4년 전

Thank you so much for creating this workaround! I have NO idea why Spotify would have removed the mini-player, but this brings it back and better than ever!개발자 답글
4년 전에 게시됨From what I can deduce, they made an "improved" version that uses something like the picture-in-picture API, which is not available on Firefox at the moment. - 5점 만점에 5점Skyfire511 님, 4년 전Works just as displayed. I do wish there was a button for shuffle and loop. Also it would be nice if it stayed on top of my screen when I click off of it.
Edit 7/2522:
omg. You added the shuffle and loop. It's even better now. And the window thing makes sense. Thank you!개발자 답글

I'll try to find a way to add back the shuffle and loop buttons without it getting too cluttered. For the time being, you can always resize the window a bit to get the full interface back momentarily.
