Why the hell do I need an extension to disable AI?

This doesn't have android support. Please consider updating the extension to support android as well.

It should be the OTHER way around where AI supporters should be the people looking for an extension with AI features, and the one we've installed years ago should be left as it was without the AI features, but I suppose all these "gAI" supporter's brains are too sloppified to look that up for their convenience if it were the case.

it does the job it says it does. it sets the search engine to duckduckgo without ai. I would add more detail but this is basically all there is to this extension. Just sets the search engine to duckduckgo without ai. it works.

While I appreciate how easy DuckDuckGo makes it to permanently disable AI features in their search engine for users, I find it kinda hilarious that they'd rather release a bunch of "anti-AI" features instead of just removing the AI features entirely, like they should.

Like you BUILT the AI nonsense you're trying to save us from, you don't get to play BOTH sides of the marketing here.

it really is miserable knowing that this makes duckduckgo one of the only search engines that has an opt-in for generative ai rather than an opt-out. this could have (and should have) been made into the default experience for everyone using this search engine.

don't get me wrong, it's great that this is a thing... but this has me worried that duckduckgo won't do more than this to address the problems with an opt-out system.

hopefully, this becomes popular enough that it sends a clear message to duckduckgo and other search engines. i know i don't want to deal with this opt-out nonsense, where it feels like i'm being cuffed to something only to be given the key to free myself whenever i want.
