It's a potentially good service with seemingly all the features you'd want in a service like this but they don't always work or are all even present. I find a lot of the time it either won't suggest to unlock the extension when clicking on a login or password field and even the fill in keyboard shortcuts don't work - its been too intermittent to tell if it is only some sites or just a randomly triggered bug. Also very annoying, when I click to fill in a login and password it'll prompt Windows Hello Fingerprint randomly in the background so I have to click on it on the taskbar instead of it showing up in the foreground all the time as it obviously should. I also bought it for the premium features while the Firefox extension doesn't even have the advertised anti-phishing feature yet which is one of the reasons I paid for premium. So, they are advertising features that aren't even available which I think is dishonest which doesn't inspire trust in the company and their practices - it is strange that the supposedly most secure browser seems to be the least supported.

The above poses instant issues when considering the service for tech illiterate people as these problems are deal breakers. I want to set this up for my boomer mother who has been successfully phished several times but the fingerprint in the background bug will definitely make her think it's not there and therefore not working. Also, the non-existent anti-phishing feature advertised for the premium edition literally takes away the reason I would consider paying for a premium account for her.

These are all, however, grievances that could be easily fixed with competent non LLM vibe coding done by a real human being which could easily bump my rating up a star or two and pay for premium for my boomer mother but for now Bitwardem is mediocre at best and I can't recommend paying for premium to anyone and even the free version's bugs may pose problems depending on your tech literacy.

Bitwarden devs: you're close but you have to fix these things before I can recommend the service.

    Been using BW for couple years now, best decision ever to switch from built-in browser password manager to a dedicated one.

    I currently have BW 2026.5.1 in Firefox, and I don’t see any slowness. Even with 2026.5.0, I didn’t have any problem with sites/logins. The only noticeable bug was on the saving of autofill settings, which was fixed in 2026.5.0.
    Disclaimer: I’m a developer, and I use very powerful PCs.

    If other people are still complaining, it may be one (or more!) of the following things:
    - They have a slow/low-end PC
    - They have a compromised PC
    - They use particular sites, e.g., Reddit (I don’t use it), which may still be problematic with BW

    Bitwarden extension has been a total nightmare in Firefox for a while now with no fix in sight.

    This worked great in my firefox on windows. Until last week. Constantly pop ups saying it would slow down the browser. Of course, i dont know what the reason is. I have to deactivate it and then activate again to log in somewhere and then deactivate again, and its annoying and feels like i can´t trust it anymore.
    I can see that others have the same problem recently.
    Dear developers, do somehting or at least give a sign that you read our recent reviews.

    They've made changes to this that effectively make browsing certain sites painful - the extension consistently stops responding and slowing the browser down.

    A great extension, but recently the extension is showing massive performance issues, slowing down the browser to a halt. Specifically on Reddit for me, for some odd reason.

    Love this extension, been using it for years, but please for the love of all that is holy... Fix the massive performance issues...

    The latest update 2026.5.0 is causing major issues and slowing down many sites and making the entire browser grind to a halt at times... this is unacceptable.

    Pretty please, make the 2026.5.1 version available asap, it should resolve a very annoying significant slowdown issue on some websites!
