very very simple to use & works perfect on my current 57.0.4 64-bit. thx loooots for sharing!
just hope maybe the developer shall update so that it can detect the URL of the query field automatically

Hello, thanks for the review.

As for your request, it's practically impossible to know which part of the URL constitutes the query field:
- it can be a query parameter like https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%s
- it can also be a path parameter like http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/%s

I may add in the future a more automated way to add a search engine.

    This extension is dead.

    I've used this for 6 years now (I left a review back then), but this add-on hasn't been updated since 2023 and you can't add any search anymore since the "right click to add" option doesn't work in new Firefox address bar.

    It's a shame. This add-on was very useful once. :(

    Awesome extension, quite thoughtful with solid OpenSearch implementations searching the web should become easy straight from address bar.
    A sync feature with Google Drive/OneDrive would be nice addition (possible to go cross-browser too)!

    Great extension, in so far as it is needed.

    Absolutely demential that I have to use an extension to get this basic feature though. At this point I just stick with Firefox by inertia.

    UPD2025: В Firefox наконец-то добавили возможность добавлять поисковые системы более удобным способом, так что возможно вам это расширение уже и не потребуется. Тем не менее, мне всё ещё нравится, что может выгрузить их список отдельным файликом, так что для меня оно пока всё ещё актуально.

    Merely _defining_ a custom search with this addon is trivial.

    But nothing in any bit of documentation I've been able to lay hands on tells me how to do any of the following:

    * Add this custom search to Firefox' list of default searches.
    * Replace ordinary Firefox search with my just-defined custom search in the search window.
    * Use the newly defined custom search in any practical way whatsoever.

    The newly defined custom search simply vanishes. Without a referent or any practial means of actually sending it the search query I type into the search bar.

    The icon shows up nowhere. The name of the custom search shows up nowhere.

    The documentation on github leads me down a blind alley.

    This addon does not appear to have any practical use.
