Nice legacy Tab Groups replacement on quantum! Most of hotkeys for switching groups can almost recover the legacy one except those limitation in extensions (That's no choice). Good to see this release just before legacy Firefox ESR end of support. Thanks for bringing the final hope and allow for move on quantum seamlessly.

I am looking forward to the free arrange be implemented and that will be fully replace, and/or even enhance of legacy Tab Groups.

Suggestion: Is it possible close the "Manage Groups" tab after switching groups? Otherwise whenever using hotkey to open "Manage Groups", it will switch back to the group with "Manage Groups" tab. The current solution is uncheck 'Open "Manage Groups" in new tab'.

Edit: already in STG 3.0.7, not experimental
Edit 2: Thanks for response. One more suggestion: how about close "Manage Groups" tab when it is inactive OR hide all other tabs when "Manage Groups" is active (so user must choose a group or close it to remain in current group)? This can force the "Manage Groups" tab never belongs to any groups, which prevent group auto switching when opening "Manage Groups".

    First... I love this Add-On! I know right now its being flaky and buggy and the author isn't responding to fixing things. This most likely because he is being affected by the WAR in Ukraine, where he lives. Hoping for his safe return to programming tools like this.

    FYI, There is newer code on Git that was submitted just over a month ago. I'm trying to figiure out how to install that and test it.

    Using this for years, have to stop now and find an alternative. Do not recommend at all

    Keeps hiding random tabs from random groups every day. Then you have to manually find the hidden tabs in the firefox hidden tabs menu and reopen them only for it to randomly close a bunch again

    Worked well until recently. Now every time you open FF after closing it, some of the tab groups are in different windows, some might be empty, and the backups just aren't there. This extension has totally lost its purpose as being able to save what you're doing through restarts.

    Restore backup no longer works with firefox May 13 2026 update! Looks like an abandoned extension. Been over a year since last updated. What a shame. It was the best of its kind!

    It's really a good option for the lack of a better one... It gets the job done by hiding tabs from other "workspaces" into the hidden tabs list. Didn't notice a lot of bugs.
    But a few things that really push me to use other browsers: it's not as elegant, very simple design, doesn't feel native and natural (compared to vivaldi, arc, zen, opera, etc); and two very annoying things: tab groups don't hidden, but are kinda empty, but still show previews, which brakes immersion and the fact that it spawns a directory every single day in your home folder ("STG-..."), and never cleans it up.

    My favorite browser extension, hands down. Yes, the last Firefox update broke it. Need your tabs back? Settings > Backup Your Simple Tab Groups > Enable Auto-backup (you should be doing this anyway). Then Restore Backup every time you relaunch Firefox. (I delete existing data and revert to my last save.)

    That's how I'm managing until the maintainer updates this extension. (Based on their location in Ukraine, I'm willing to give them some slack.)

    I don't know why anyone would use this. Does not reliably save tab groups.

    keeps crashing when trying to restore backup. tab groups load but not the pages in them.

    It's okay. But your max is going to be 4 groups before tabs/browser starts to feel laggy on MacOS.

    К сожалению, дополнение неисправно. При попытке восстановить группы из резервной копии, браузер просто падает и восстанавливаются пустые группы.
