E.g., with webRequest, it detect clicks on links in Google news as being from Location Bar and incorrectly creates an extra useless tab. (I use Google news a lot and those links would open in a new tab without the extension anyway.) With webNavigation, for a real URL in location bar, it not only loses scrolling position in the current tab, it also causes the browser to waste time completely regenerating the page. I look forward to a solution with neither problem. In the meantime, I will just condition myself to use Alt-Enter on the location bar.

I was going nuts with FF 66 opening URLs and searches in the current tab, even though I'd set "browser.search.openintab" to "true" in "about:config", and I found your add-on.
