    Does what it claims well. Everyone who's freaking about the permissions change needs to calm down and go read up on it more. It's not doing anything nefarious/different. It's not spying on everything you do. It's not saving your youtube info.

    You can go into extensions settings and view permissions for an extension in Firefox and it shows you the sites/urls that the extension is allowed to operate on. If it's not listed there, then Firefox itself won't allow the extension to access information on other sites.

    Scroll down and read comments from the developer which have more complete information on what actually happened.

    RYD hasn’t changed how it handles your data. What changed is how Mozilla labels these permissions - not what the extension does with your data.

    RYD only uses the data it needs to show dislikes and count votes.

    Its site permissions cover YouTube and its own API at returnyoutubedislikeapi.com. RYD doesn’t read other websites, and these site permissions cannot be used to access them.

    Here’s what those permissions mean:

    Personally identifiable information - RYD’s randomly generated, anonymous user ID, used to count votes. This isn’t your Google or YouTube account.

    Browsing activity - opening the next YouTube video, so the extension can send its video ID and fetch the new dislike count.

    Website content - things like the visible like count, which helps calculate dislike estimates.

    Website activity - clicking Like or Dislike.

    Again, this is about YouTube activity. The extension isn’t watching everything you do across the internet - it simply can’t do that with these site permissions.

    The new labels can sound worrying, but they don’t give the extension access to more websites.

    Nice extension. People complaining about donation messages (which i haven't saw on my system) can maintain their own extension and pay its infrastructure costs instead of complaining. It is a free extension for sake. also Glory to Ukraine

    Just wanted to say thank you for creating this extension and still supporting it to this day, its always been great for me! Weather im on firefox or a chromium based browser it works wonders.

    I was scared for those permissions needed so i looked into it, Turns out the addon dev is right its Mozilla its just really poorly named

    The new permission request surprised me at first, but after reading the developer's explanation, it makes total sense. It sounds scarier than it actually is, and that's on Mozilla, not the developer. There's no need to be paranoid (it's open source, so you can check the code yourselves!)

    Thanks for being transparent about the permissions and keeping the extension updated.

    When I first saw the extension requiring "new" permissions like PII, the first thing I did was check the reviews if anyone had any information on why these new perms were required and if it'd be better to uninstall.

    I was not expecting that person to be the developer of the extension, with a full in-depth explanation of why each new perm was needed, if the extension was trusted, and information on why the permissions were rebranded.

    This is the first time I've EVER seen a developer take the time to read negative reviews, explain, and attempt to help with any issues. I've been using this extension for a while, and I could tell this project was difficult to maintain just based on how it was made.

    You are perhaps the greatest developer I've seen purely for actually listening to what people had to say and addressing the constant 1 star reviews with actual notes. I created an account purely to say that this extension has been great for quite a while now, and keeping servers alive with little monetization, pushing out updates, taking time to read feedback, addressing questions, it's all extremely impressive and genuinely makes me want to support the project. Cheers mate.

    How is this still working? I thought recently youtube removed dislikes in their backend.

    They did, about 4 years ago, we have to keep our own "parallel" servers to YouTube.

    Sucks the extension is getting reviewed bombed for something small, I would just prefer to have the dislike button work on private windows also
